D70 with over sensitive pixels

Wednesday September 5, 2007 at 01:48PM

Today I cleaned the CCD of my D70. On the test shots I made before and after, I found (at least) 3 "over sensitive" pixels. It's not hot pixels, I guess. Until now (more accurate research on this topic is still to be done) my first impression is that these pixels do not depend on the ISO, nor do they depend on the exposure time. They are just brighter (and a little more red) than the pixels around them. They're invisible when located in black/dark areas.

I just hope this isn't gonna develop into a more annoying problem...

Are they static ? Maybe you can remove them afterwards automatically with a reference picture as mask. Just like the dark-frame subtraction many cameras are doing for hot pixels...
Otherwise, the D300 seems to be also very interesting. ;)

Sure I could do something like that. But I prefer not having the problem at all - the more processing between shooting the image and editing it has to be done the more annoying it gets. I'm not even having a good raw workflow because I don't have an appropirate program for doing this (appropriate program like Aperture from Apple) Therefor: next computer will be a Mac ;) And the D300 is a bit too far away from the edge of my money limit... I guess my next cam will be the D400.
