Week seven has passed away...

Wednesday August 8, 2007 at 04:04PM

...and in principle nothing really happened. Still I have this impression of stagnation, of less activity of most of my contacts. Some fresh impulse is needed, I think.

Personally I noticed some new people the last 2 or three days looking at my pics and more anonymous visitors, so that the picture views have noticeable increased. That's maybe related to the fixing of the search problem I had (my new pictures didn't appear in tag searches for some time) and that two pictures appeared in the 'what's hot' list. It's also possible that ipernity pages got higher google rankings. Who knows, but I would count that slight increase of activity as a positive signal.

Let's see what week eight will bring :)

Just wondering what do you expect, writing in your blog that you stop looking at your contacts pics but on the other hand wanting them to look at yours - weird approach to get lots of views and to increase the activity on your page...

One thing has nothing to do with the other. The first is just an explanation why I'm not so active as before, the other thing is just a description of what I observe. And it's no approach to achieve anything, even no traffic on my page, if I would wanted that, I would do something else...

I also observe quite little activity, of course my photos aren't as attractive and good as yours, but I feel I get little feedback about my post, even though I do comment on other's....

I think one has to wait. I think one has to forget the few weeks after the flickr censorship issue. And now the page is on a normal way it would have been with out this censorship thing at flickr.

The ipernity hype wasn't produced cause people found a place they liked for itself, they came here cause they had problems with flickr. And now some time has past, emotions calmed down, and people think, okay, flickr is still a good place, so they went back.

I'm not too sure about your last remark though... Initially perhaps many people became aware of ipernity and came here because of the flickr issue, and it sure it was kind of a hurrah camp site feel with lots of emotions here then.

But, speaking for myself, I soon discovered that I had found a site I liked better than the other one. So I'm not too sure people just settled in because of the issue and not because the liked ipernity for itself... I think if I had discovered Ipernity first, it would have been my main choice over flickr actually...

But of course, some went back to flickr after calming down, you're right about that. However, I think this site have to settle somehow and find its own rhythm after a rather jump start. I think it will.

As you said, first yo came, and only afterwards you discovered that this is a good place. And that holds for the most people, they came first and afterwards started to look around more carefully. Some started to like it, others moved away.

Yes, of course. My apologizes, I think I misunderstood you. What I meant was just that people who came here in the first place because of flickr signed up here (and not at zoomr or other) because the site looked nice in its own. If it looked at a crappy site (and it sure isn't ;)) people wouldn't choose it as their exile home.

I think we agree, just me misunderstanding ;)
