Seadragon & PhotoSynth

Saturday January 5, 2008 at 09:45PM

This technology is so "cool". It's never ending. Its 2+2=5! (not a typo, i really ment 5)

Watch until the end, when they start to play with metadata.

So now they just need to make it available on other platforms, than windows...

As the presenter said, you can try the photosynth app here: labs.live.com/photosynth
Click on "Try the Tech Preview"...
However it takes some time till the images become "high resolutioned" though. It's not always so fast and sleek like in the presentation ;-)

so now we know why they want to buy Flickr!!!!
Do you want your shots to be presented like this- mixed and morphed into a collective virtual earth?
Just wondering?

I really like the idea. Imagine jumping around wikipedia and then finding some information and a moment after your looking around the physical (or as physical as you can get in a digital world) place where the information is.

Do you remember the video of a chine person standing in front of a tank ? www.youtube.com/watch?v=9klv9q19rTY

Imaging seing this video and then jumping into the picture and start to look around. Wow
Imaging the information you well be presented with. "Oh there's a ming dynasty statue" .. and your back at wikipedia reading about it. Jumping on to a movie "55 days in peking" and .. and .. you end up in Hollywood where that movie was shot and taking a look around the set (if it was photograph)

I think the melting pot with information is going to be so hugh and it gonna be really wicked ;)

Imagine looking around Yosemite, but thru the shots of Adam Ansel. I will be like going back in time.

Any photo i shoot will be free and available to that kind of application.
