"Ossur Skarphedinsson, Minister of Foreign Affairs in Iceland, handed over the membership application for the Republic of Iceland to join the European Union today at a meeting at 10:45am Swedish time."
I'm really happy to read this. It's great to see Iceland as a member of the European Union. In the EU, every citizen is free to move wherever he or she wants. As soon as Iceland becomes a member, this freedom includes Iceland as well, which would make it possible for me to move there.
I'm also happy to read that Iceland will introduce the Euro, although Skarphedinsson admittet that this could take some time. As a motive for the back of the Icelandic Euro Coins, I'd like to suggest the Herðubreið, although that's something the people of Iceland have to decide.
