How to add a photo inside a note.

Wednesday March 19, 2008 at 09:15PM

Since i've been playing with photos inside notes, several people asked me how i did that, so, here's the tutorial...

For those who know enough html to post a photo inside a comment ("a href=" and "img src="), read the nutshell explanation here:

photoinsidenote
photoinsidenote

"The rule is: a note cannot be html-only! SO: the trick is: add a dot '.' or any other character outside the '<' and '>'-tags and save it! This will create a valid note. (Greasemonkey script-users watch out: the 'post-a-photo'-script works, but you have to clean the code and remove all unnecessary items like the 'name=' tag!) (A sample code will appear at the end of this post.)

If you're not 100% familiar with html, here's the step-by-step-tutorial:

- open 2 browser windows to facilitate copy- and paste-procedures
-> 1 window should show the target photo
-> 1 window should show the source photo
- in the target photo, create a note (click the note-icon above the photo to create one)
- write in the note the following tags: <a href=""><img src=""></a>
- then, IMPORTANT! : add a dot (.) in the end, after the </a> . (This is necessary because a note cannot be html-only, so you need a dummy character, for which i chose '.'; you can choose another character if you prefer)
- go to the source photo page and copy its link (= the http-address as shown in the browser)
- paste this link inside the <a href="here"> tag within the note
- go to the source photo, right-click and choose 'properties' to get the photo's http-address
- paste this link inside the <img src="here"> tag inside the note
- save the note

This is the note's exact text from the photo inside this post:

.<a href="www.ipernity.com/doc/lodchjo/1526879" title="Go to the photo page"><img src="http://u1.ipernity.com/u/4/51/E7/1435473.977f6baf1.m.jpg" alt="Leuven: Stadhuis (detail) by Lodchjo" /></a>.

The photo's address ends in ".m.jpg". You can change the 'm' from 'medium' into 'l' for large and even 'b' for big.

Bedankt voor de duidelijke uitleg! (Is in het Nederlands ook misschien iets om bij NLT te zetten, net als RSS-uitleg van Dany?)

That tip is a great idea, thanks for it!
May I ask a question? Is there a way to chose the image size that will appear in the note?

Lodchjo replies:
There is. Take e.g. the image from the tutorial: u1.ipernity.com/u/4/51/E7/1435473.977f6baf1.m.jpg
The photo's address ends in ".m.jpg". You can change the 'm' that stands for 'medium' into 'l' for large and even 'b' for big.
Let me know the result; or feel free to post a link here!
