Good Bye Lenin!

Wednesday August 8, 2007 at 06:46AM

Last night I saw "Good Bye Lenin!" on TV. A German film by Wolfgang Becker (IMDb.com rating 7.8/10) that was released in 2003. See Wikipedia article on Good Bye, Lenin!

I liked it a lot and I think it's a good example of European cinema - so much different from Hollywood, and so much better.

On one hand the film can be seen as a part of ostalgie phenomenon and it certainly brings backs memories from the old days. I also lived long, dreadful years under the communist regime. But for me the real value of the film is that it is about feelings and that it speaks to your heart.

I also saw the movie (from western point of view) and I liked it a lot.
I liked most the mixture of humor, sadness, feelings and hope.
It really goes deep to your heart.
Especially the scenes when he met his father where really powerfull.
