01.02.2009 In Betweener

Belated Happy New Year for 2009 to any Ipernity passer-by!! Though the hurricane in France/Spain wasn't the best start (my father was without power and telephone for 4 days).

As my Fl*ckr membership renewal approaches soon I have a big decision to make. I expect I will renew my payment with Flickr but also stay here with Ipernity. Fl*ckr is very active and has a good community vibe.

But I still like to think I put some of my very best photos on Ipernity.

And I still hope Ipernity continues to improve and attract new members. The homepages and the blogs are a really good idea! Though the Euro to GBP exhange rate means the Ipernity membership will now cost me 50% more again, argh!!

23.04.2008 In Transition

Argh! What an appalling experience to discover the Flickr Transition www.ipernity.com/group/39473 Group! Lots of stolen images, breasts, complaints about censorship and blue language in the discussion. Hardly a good advert for the type of people that want to make Ipernity their weapon of choice!!

Meanwhile, just as I am getting used to the good bits of Ipernity (of which there are several) I have to take a back seat while I deal with a mountain of college work. I think I may even hand over my modem to a friend for safe keeping, that at least should stop all this time-consuming image sharing. Hope things have moved on when I get back!

18.4.2008

Finding my way around gradually. There's something quite appealling about Ipernity's French origins, I have family connections and host a Béarn Group on Flickr - www.flickr.com/groups/bearn

Though the fact the pro subscription is in euros and not US dollars is a bit of a blow

One thing that really, really bugs me is the way my photos are described here as docs or items, but when I log into my ipernity homepage as a visitor they are described (correctly) as photos. It is a shame the different docs are not distinguished from one another, as I'd hoped. I almost prefer the Flickr term things.

17.4.2008 Another Flickr Refugee

New member of ipernity here, after the bodged introduction of video to Flickr and the arrogant way Flickr's management team mocked the 27,000 members of the "We Say No to Video on Flickr" Group.

Love the attachment of a blog here, it allows me to bore people with my ongoing commentary. Let's hope ipernity's membership increases, particularly in Wales and the UK.
