i've contacted a long list of old friends from flickr over here - nice to see you in this surrounding
it's all so new here, lots of things have to develop, but some functions - like this blog, like the chat feature, like the potential usage of other media - are very good
i can't greet you all individually - so i will do this with this blog entry
i'm here for a test - test ipernity as a potential alternative for flickr
i still hope, this will be a nice add-on t flickr - i still hope, that flickr (or better yahoo) management will draw back that censorship issue - i still hope, that flickr remains a good platform for me
but that is up to flickr
i will post most of my new stuff here until it's becoming clear what flickr will do
and i hope, that i will get back to photography again
the last couple of weeks i almost shot no photos
and that happened many years ago for the last time
joe's contacts - 1st contest

hooray - there is a greasemonkey script enabling direct export from flickr to ipernity
www.ipernity.com/blog/team/11917
i was aking ipernity-"officials" about the realisation of the group/pool-feature - here's their answer:
Hello Joe,
LOL... do you need some assurance about that ?
YES! what was told is TRUE! :)
groups are our first priority. We started coding them last week.
and as you may verify we are coding as fast as people moving to ipernity ;)
But we will propose something cool, hopefully, and we need a little more time. I guess 2/3 weeks.
Stay tuned!
Thanks for joining us.
Christophe.
hooray - look for yourself - flickr has made the "safe search off" feature availabe to german users again

i received the following comment on my photoblog about my engagement here at ipernity - hm, what's your opinion about this?
I know that Flickr made a temporary mistake with regard to German users, but I feel you are overreacting. Flickr is an international community while ipernity is (and at best will be) an European backwater copycat, even if its policies are more flexible and its feature slightly better than Flickr. The game internationally is played by Yahoo, Microsoft and Google, or whoever they decide to acquire
I am pretty sure Yahoo will revise their policies in due time - it just takes a while in a big company, esp. given that they recently changed their CEO and have bigger fish to fry ![]()

this is not an abstract, though at first sight it looks like a modern painting - it's a wall, where the paint peels off - one can see different colors, the top is a blueish white, the bottom a reddish brown - the cracks in the paint form a complex figure, maybe the shape of a tree, maybe part of an aerial view of creeks and rivers on a strange planet
i love that akiruna took a scene, where most people would just shrug their shoulders and see nothing noticeable - akiruna does see this wonderful decay, this interesting pattern - thank you akiruna for saving and showing this to us
it is a wonderful photo

this seems to be a roof of a modern building - undoubtedly by some famous architect - the dominating color of the photo is blue, in different shades - at first sight the composition looks like an abstract painting - but if one looks closer, one can see that it's not - the building itself is like a blue flame coldly lit - it reaches into a blue sky - it seems to be taken in the early evening, but one can see no shadows on the edifice - i presume, opus104 did extensive finishing to present this monochrome masterpiece - unfortunately it seems sort of cut off at the bottom (the only little fault i can see), but undoubtedly there were parts of the building which do not fit into this composition
it is a wonderful photo

we see lousy weather - it's dawn or dusk and it is raining or the rain had just stopped - we see a highway, just one car is coming - slowly, as there is a marking on the road - slowly, because pedestrians could be crossing - but there is nobody - the shot was probably take thru the front window of a car - the sky is gray and looks leaden and occupies about half of the image - the colors of the landscape are only faintly perceptible
this photo transports mood and sentiment in an extraordinary way - loneliness, not exactly knowing or seeing where the way leads us - i involuntarily look for a dry and sheltered place - the car, the photographer is sitting in, is just a little island, not enough to feel comfortable - the leaden sky is more like a menace
it's a wonderful photo
