So yes, I made it back form St. Lucia in one piece.
It rained most of the time on my vacation. That was ok though. I met some really great people, ate and drank myself silly and got to relax a bit. A 4 day whirlwind visit but now I can say I have been there.
I read this amazing book on vacation. "Eat Pray Love" By Elizabeth Gilbert. Basically an autobiography about this woman who leaves the country to "find herself". I love the way this woman writes. It definitely gave me plenty of food for thought and I would recommend the book to anyone.
One of the most interesting parts for me was when this spiritual friend of hers tells her that she should stop trying to control everything in her life. "If you want to control things in your life so bad, work on the MIND. Drop everything else but that. Because if you cannot learn to master your thinking, you're in deep trouble forever." Control your thoughts? Instead of the other way around? This personally seems amazing and almost impossible to me. I guess what he was talking about was trying to forget about the existence of the negative thoughts, recognizing then but then trying to dismiss them. The author then adapts this "mantra" that goes something like this..... "I will not harbor unhealthy thoughts anymore" and repeats this 700 times a day.
I might need to work on that one
