May I say a massive big thank you to you all for your kind birthday wishes. It was a lovely birthday with Mandi coming up to stay with me and there was actually some blue sky so she took me to the beach to see the sea.

As you can see the recent storms have not actually destroyed the Pebble Ridge but apparently the sea breeched it and it went over and flooded the surrounding land. Luckily there weren't any houses that close, so they didn't get damaged but there were loads of people further along the ridge who were there just trying to repair the damage.

The waves were quite strong and powerful...........

There were lots of surfers trying their luck with the waves but one particular one caught my eye - and many of the people who were watching saw him too...........

He had a different kind of surfboard with him - one which you stand on and ride the waves - well I don't think he'd bargained on the strength of the waves and the swell.......

By the umpteenth time of trying to get further than 3 waves, he gave up and came back to shore. I did notice however, that he came back to shore a way along the beach, maybe a tad self conscious about his failure.......

There were quite a lot of people down there at the beach, it was a nice day - warm in the sun, and after the last few days of wild windy and wet weather - it was time to just enjoy the day.

There was a gorgeous smell of freshly cooked potato chips, together with vinegar and salt that Mandi treated me to a lovely tray of hot chips and it was a favourite with a lot of people too. Some girls who'd bought some, had obviously had enough and threw them away to the gulls .......................

Suddenly from not seeing any seagulls at all - there were loads of them................

Mandi and I talked about how much my mother loved coming to the beach on days after a storm to pick some driftwood up. I noticed a lovely big lump of wood on the beach and Mandi offered to go and collect it for me............

Personally I don't know why she didn't bring the other log with her LOL.................

When we got home, we thought Boo deserved to get a bit of fresh air inside her, so we let her out into the garden..... she did love it out there.........

I aldo noticed that there are a lot of daffodil and tulip bulbs coming out already - don't want that to happen yet because we are expecting some freezing weather in the next couple of weeks and that will kill them............

Okay folks, again thank you so much for your lovely birthday wishes. I've now reached the grand old age of 66 which 20 years ago would have been absolutely ancient. I'm just so so pleased that I'm still here though, and even though I used to think that 70 was really really old, I want to celebrate that too..............
