Well if we can believe all the things the meteorologists say, then we can expect snow soon. I must say that it's gone really cold now and snow doesn't seem to be too far fetched, but memories of when it was really snowy in 2011 are still here in my mind....

This was the view out of my bathroom window that morning we all woke up to thick snow. Now some of you might say - why does she remember it so well - well where I live in the UK, the climate is very mild and the jet stream is close to us, so we rarely get snow. In 2011 we got a shock one day when we woke up to see views like this.......

and this...........

and then we had the severe hoar frost........

the crystals made such pretty patterns and even ordinary items looked beautiful.....

a simple tarpaulin looked incredible with the ice crystals on it............

my porch doesn't have double glazing and so the ice on the glass was absolutely stunning. Luckily there was a couple of walls and a door between this and me!!!

Now I don't have central heating in my home and make do with an open fire in my lounge and halogen heaters to keep me warm and so far this is perfectly okay for me. My home is too big to even contemplate having central heating here, it would be way too expensive to run, so seems pointless really.

Well even though it's nice and pretty having snow here, living on top of a hill does mean that I can get cut off from the outside world for a while, but with scenes like this, a full coal store, loads of wood, a full freezer and larder,it doesn't seem to be so much of a problem.......
