Now Summer has given us a real poser here. How on earth do we show August in photos? Anyway I thought I'd look it up on Google as you do............ and did you know?............

In common years no other month starts on the same day of the week as August, though in leap years February starts on the same day. August ends on the same day of the week as November every year.

The flower for August is a gladiolus or a poppy................

The zodiac is both a Leo and a Virgo - now I couldn't find a personal picture of a lion, and as for the other.............. couldn't find one of that neither!!! LOL

Anyway another meaning of August is inspiring awe or admiration; majestic: and............

2. Venerable for reasons of age or high rank.

The beauty of a sun set is awe-inspiring............

The wonderful power of a wave crashing against a rock.................

This mosaic was probably made around the time of Augustus, which this month was named after................

This is a tomb effigy of Henry lll which covers the majestic bit!!!...............

Then there's the August version of venerable because of rank..................here's my paternal grandfather in his First World War uniform. Don't know his rank at the moment................

An venerable because of age - this is my grandmother who lived til she was 82 and she was a lovely grandma.....

So this is my contribution to today's theme.....
