My second outing of the week took place this afternoon when I had to go to the doctor's for a blood pressure test. Well as you know I have a long driveway and to be honest, it really does hurt my back to go down it......

This is the last corner of the driveway before the road, although it's the first if you come UP the drive!!!! (it makes sense to me anyway)!!!

As you can see the fig trees have made a sort of bower across my driveway.....

There are so many figs there, I should try and make fig jam I think.........

Anyway I eventually got up to the docs and went in for my test. The nurse was a lovely lady and I tried to sit on the chair in her room and it was just that bit too high to sit on it and have your feet touch the ground, also it was slightly tipping downwards, so I continually kept slipping off the seat. This was a tad disturbing so I did ask if she had something for me to put under my feet, she found a stool...........

This should have prepared me for what would come next!! She put the pressure thingy around the top of my arm and I tried to relax - bit difficult by this time - but possible. It failed to inflate properly. So she tried again - nope nothing, nada.............

Okay by this time I was slightly disturbed by it but she said she'd go and get a nurse to take my pressure with the old fashioned band and pump. Eventually this po-faced nurse came in with the blood pressure kit and proceeded to wrap it around my left arm. She tried to find my pulse in the crook of my arm and tried and tried....... by this time I was very concerned, because I thought that maybe my artery was blocked as my carotid had been a couple of years ago. Those of you who knew me then will remember my throat being cut to put a stent into my carotid artery to clear the blockage, so you will understand my concern...........

Eventually she found it and then she started to pump the pump - boy did it hurt - really hurt. She just stood there very straight faced and said - "Oh it's quite high - 154 over 78!! No sh*t dear - you'd got me all worried!!!! So now I have to visit the doctor to see about it being high. Hopefully by the time I get there, she'll have a blood pressure monitor which works and I'll be slightly less agitated and therefore it'll be back to normal.

I got back home a bit upset by this time, but took some photos to cheer me up. Here is the bottom of my drive looking upwards............

As you can see it does need the dead moss scraped off - but I'll wait til Fred comes.......

My neighbours opposite me have a great British Telecommunications phone box. He keeps it lovely and clean and has recently re-painted it.

Coming down the driveway towards the house, I can see the four chimneys on my roof. That is where the seagulls have their nest and where Jonathon was born, but they've all gone now - the neighbours put up a plastic owl with a swivelling head up there which frightened the gulls away. I'll miss them......

So there you are - quite a boring blog I'm afraid but I just thought I'd share it with you!! Sorry.
