I know it sounds weird, but for those of you who don't see the sea very often, I thought you'd like to see the tide going out from a stop-go motion. The tide goes out nearly a mile and a half on neap tides..............

Our beaches here on the US East coast are so different.. The waves usually are a few feet high. Several feet high with storms.. The tide can go out a 1/2 mile or so but not much more usually.. Most of the beaches are very sandy with little rock other than outcroppings.. Now the northwest coast is much more like your coastline.. Except I believe the tide doesn't go quite as dramatic.
