Well my girl Mandi, has been up for the day today. Great to see her - she is still quite brown which isn't fair!!!! miaow!!

Anyway she suggested we went to the coast for a breath of sea air. Great idea I thought, and not forgetting my trusty camera, we set off to Westward Ho!

It was very busy, I know it's May bank holiday, but it was really heaving with tourists. The wind was still coldish but out of it, the sun was quite hot.

We sat down looking at the water, and it was so nice just sitting there in the sun and smelling the ozone............

The tide was in as you can see - it's strange for visitors who've never seen this coastline - the tide goes out nearly a mile and a half!!! There was quite a stiff breeze so there were quite a lot of surfers on the water..............

I noticed a bird hopping along with two worms in his mouth and he was still looking for more, so methinks he had quite a brood at home in the nest!!!!.........

There were some beach huts behind us and I think it's time they were re-painted before the full season starts...............

Then we went to Appledore and were amazed at how many people were there. There were lots of people crabbing (catching crabs on lines) and then putting them back into the water. I used to do that when I was a child too - it was great fun............

The ferry boat is new too - the old boat used to take about 10 minutes to cross the river - now it takes only a couple of minutes. There were loads of boats, small crafts, rowing boats, sail boats, fishing trawlers etc as well as jet skis and ferry boats criss crossing the river - not seen it that busy for ages............

It was really strange sitting outside where we used to live. My parents owned the building and the shop was their shop for many many years. My first husband and I used to live in the flat above with the two children. I miss those times sometimes....

Well that is all for now - my day out was great. If and when Mandi & her new husband move down here, we should be having lots of these lovely day outs.
