Well-known French dub band High Tone is set to perform in Ha Noi on Saturday night as part of their Asian tour.

High Tone, an instrumental dub group featuring guitar, drums, keyboards and turntables, is known for breaking through the boundaries of the genre. From Lyon, High Tone was formed in 1997 and helped popularise the emerging French dub scene.

The five-member group feeds their music with influences from Drum’n’bass, Ambient, Trance and Vintage Dub. Its members, called "the Sorcerers" are now considered as major powers on the French dub scene.

This band incorporates all sorts of elements in their music, from 70s Jamaican dub to electronic music with a touch of world music. The jungle intros, the oriental samples and the discrete scratches contribute to create a deeply organic warm sound, vibrant with emotions.

The group released its first album entitled Opus Incertum in 2000. They have produced several others since then, including Bass Temperature, Acid Dub Nucleik, Lenteur and Kaltone.

Having performed widely in France and Europe, the band is touring Asia this year with performances in Viet Nam, Cambodia, Thailand and Indonesia.

The band’s Ha Noi show will be held on Saturday at American Club 19-21 Hai Ba Trung Street. Nhóm nhạc điện tử High Tone đến Việt Nam

Nhóm nhạc đến từ nước Pháp được đánh giá là có khả năng tập hợp, "phù phép" các thể loại nhạc điện tử novo & live dub, jungle, drum'n'bass, techno transe… sẽ biểu diễn một đêm duy nhất vào ngày 19/6, tại nhà hát Bến Thành, TP HCM.

Nhóm High Tone gồm 5 người: Lionel Dumas (DJ), Dominique Peter (trống), Julien Oresta (guitare), Antonin Chaplin (organ), Fabrice Oresta (basse). Cùng nhóm 5 người phụ trách âm thanh, ánh sáng, chiếu vidéo…, họ đã không ngừng đưa nhạc điện tử vượt qua ngưỡng của thể loại nhạc dub thuần tuý.

Thành lập năm 1997 tại thành phố Lyon, Pháp, High Tone đã ra hơn 10 CD, DVD về thể loại nhạc họ theo đuổi. Trong năm 2007, nhóm có kế hoạch tiến dần về Đông Nam Á với những đêm diễn tại TP HCM (Việt Nam), Phnom Penh (Campuchia), Bangkok (Thái Lan), Jakarta (Indonesia).
