Las puertas de la basílica de la Macarena se abrieron justo en la medianoche. Se iniciaba así una Madrugada que se auguraba muy fría pero también sin riesgo de precipitaciones.
La explanada de la Resolana estaba llena de un público expectante que recibió con un aplauso a la Centuria Macarena a las 11:45 cuando entró desfilando con tambores y cornetas en la basílica tras su recorrido tradicional de cada Jueves Santo que incluye la visita a la basílica del Gran Poder y al convento de las Hermanas de la Cruz. Los «armaos» fueron igualmente recibidos con un aplausos en el interior de la basílica, donde todo eran nervios, aunque ya se conocía que no habría inconvenientes para realizar la estación de penitencia por la estabilidad meterológica, que se prolongará al menos hasta el sábado. Como prueba de normalidad ya se habían repartido los cirios en El Silencio y el Gran Poder -histórica imagen la del Señor con la túnica de los cardos- cuya salida estaba prevista a la una.
Otra cerrada ovación recibió al Señor de la Sentencia. Se nota la intervención en las figuras secundarias que han realzado la ubicación de la sagrada imagen con la novedad de que se podía contemplar sus pies.
