I was listening to the radio, a woman was talking about a new book from the view of literature. Amongst other she said, He was afraid of the insecurity that comes with freedom. The sentence sounds good and vise. But what do those words mean? What does it say?
What does it mean to fear insecurity? Insecurity is fear. To fear insecurity is to fear the fear itself. Frightened man sees no freedom. He can never be free for he is bounded in fear. In this case fear of fear.
A free man is contempt with himself, as well as all other humans and his surroundings. Freedom is peace. And peace is a state of mind that needs no security. Therefore fear can never be a part of freedom. Fear is imprisonment not freedom. Only those who fear nothing are free.
It’s obvious the owner of those words didn’t know what he was saying. He was just talking words that sounded good but were totally meaningless. As many of us do so often, both verbally and in writing.
We use words to hand the world of knowledge and ideas to the next generation. We should therefore know how important it is to choose our words carefully. Keep their meaning clear. Otherwise we are handing our children wrong meaning of words and ideas and at the same time altered, skew and distorted view of the world.
By that we could make fear desirable. Even so that our children never see the possibility of living in a fearless world in peace with themselves and at the same time everything and everyone. Without words.
