Do you wanna dance

This is for season 66 of the Ukulele- Theme: The Ramones. The Ramones covered this Beach Boy song, but since I slept through the punk era I have decided to transpose it to use 7th chords instead of major and do the song as a slow blues. Serves them right.

Edna Millan she took me out, and my first big mistake was thinking that a snazzy dresser like that would be interested in me. Her husband was a big time gambler down Miami, and he would like to flash his diamond rings under everybody's nose either at Gulfstream Park and Calder Race Course. In 2001 he lost pretty heavy and some say that after that loss he was behind the closing down of Hialeah Park Race Track. People disappeared. You know how it happens. He was a man that did not like to loo…

This is a very strange song... quite possibly coming from beyond the grave. Now this is a twist for usually it is the living that miss and mourn for the dead, but in this particular case it seems that the dead long for the living.

The days of thy Sire are all vanished and over The fierce tide of fight never more shall they see O'er the fields where they fell their sad spirts still hover 'Tis time the last chieftain was gathered to them For in their gray palace the long grass is waving Their clan to the stranger has bended the knee and a wild wail is heard when the night winds are raving McCarthy, McCarthy I tarry for thee. Your proud star of honour is dwindling and waning The land of your fathers has ceased t…

Hollis Brown/American time capsule
-
August 31, 2012
Photo montage of american history up until the time of Nixon. Originally appeared in a Smothers Bros TV show and it was entitled "American Time Capsule" The song is an old Bod Dylan song... here is the track from the Amnesty International Dylan compilation, which deals with farm foreclosures, unemployment, poverty and broken promises. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=At-YPyVW9R8

Apple monopoly
-
August 27, 2012
Just read this morning that Apple had won a lawsuit in America against Samsung for breech of patents. A representative from Samsung said "unfortunate that patent law can be manipulated to give one company a monopoly over rectangles with rounded corners". and I thought it was a great line for a song, which I just made up on the spur of the moment. Now here is the thing I don't understand, the article on the BBC concluded with the statement. "Apple remains one of the South Kore…

Flowers are for sissys

July 24, 2012
I watched a programme on BBC where flowers and specifically meadow flowers were used in the urban environment with the intent of reducing social unrest and vandalism. Apparently if residents are given flower seeds to plant and then to water and care for the flowers, they then took a pride in their surroundings. The programme also contrasted the difference between formal plantings that are strict and regimented with the plants laid out in geometric patterns, as opposed to broadcasting se…

Went To Nastola Rautalanka Festival. Rautalanka could be translated as ironwire and it is a direct reference to guitar strings and a certain style of music personified by The Shadows or Duane Eddy. Instrumental guitar music that you can dance to. The music is decidedly from the 60's and it attracts a sub-culture of people dressing up in a style from a by-gone age. The men wear drape suits and have 2" soles on their brothel creeper shoes. The women wear and flounced dresses with frilly petti…
