Was playing with Gnasher on Monday evening....ok, actually he was running around and I picked him up for a kiss, when I noticed his left eye had a silver shine (where their little pupil is).....

Looked odd...so I checked his other eye....not the same....grief!

Well.... I thought I'm not going to stress - perhaps it was just some dodgy light I was looking at it in....

So I looked at it again last night, and so did David...and it still looks white/silvery....

Hmmm! I hope my he's not going blind! *fret* Definitely vet time again!!

Sat 10th Nov....After the visit to the vet...

So....I was finally able to take Gnasher to the vet, after stressing now for more than a week! He wasn't happy about being woken up, poor baby, but settled into the carrier I "fashioned" for him after a little while. I did it up nicely, complete with newspaper around the edges to block out the light and a black carry bag to make things more cosy.

Well, the vet gave him the once-over and the verdict...

1. Yes, I was correct, he has a cataract on his left eye. I now have a piece of "pee litmus" so I can test his pee to see if he is diabetic or not. If not, then they say the cataract is age related. If he is...he'll be breaking ground, according to the vet, as he says it's aparently rare in Syrians...so I now sit....waiting....

2. He has a broken tail....!!! :( I picked him up a few nights ago and noticed he had a bump on his back by his tail and his tail was jutting off at a strange angle. Well I lightly felt it and he started grinding his teeth at me so I thought uh oh!! I asked the vet to have a look at it and he confirmed it...a broken tail! Now when the vet felt it he didn't do any teeth grinding so he's not in any pain, but I have to monitor it incase the lump is a tumour that has caused his tail to break. Either that or he has injured himself somehow. Oh man!!!

Either way he's not a happy bunster at the moment! I feel kinda helpless. Went straight to the petshop afterwards to buy him some treats. I hope he'll be ok!!!!! :\
