it's funny, how people are impressed if someone calls himself a "professional" photographer, painter, actor - whatever. For me it only means that someone earns his or her money with their creativity - nothing more. Regarding to my own definition I'm NOT a professional photographer (only a fanatic amateur) but I'm a professional graphic designer. I still have no idea how my camera works and - embarassing enough - for quite a while I only used the "automatic button" to get reasonable photos. I'm glad that I know everything about Photoshop to compensate that lack of knowledge and make some nice pictures :-)) I don't care if someone is a professional or not as long as they have interesting creations. I've seen many "professionals" who produce the worst crap you can imagine and - on the other hand - I know "amateurs" where I'm in awe of their skills and talent.

after that censorship issue at flickr I decided to move my images. Ipernity seems to be an alternative. Let's see how it works. I had always trouble with my images - and will always have... No flowers, cute kittens or sunsets in my pictures, but (gay)erotic photos - some might say "you ask for trouble" :-). Since a while flickr refused to let me switch any of my photos to save-mode, even the harmless ones. This community is not (yet) as communicative for me as flickr was. But I hope this will change soon... and I hope that there will be groups here in the near future as well for people to share their common interests.
