One of the reasons why I have not been posting photos lately is because I have been so busy catching up with old friends on Facebook. Facebook is not a photo site like Ipernity but it is possible to post some low resolution photos there, and I use that option so my friends can look at some of my family- and work related photos.
I have been posting my family photos on Barnaland, (Barnaland is where Icelanders post their family photos) and then I have my Flickr and Ipernity accounts, and on top of all this I have my new Facebook account. It takes to much time to run all these sites so I have decided to cancel either my Ipernity or my Flick account, but I have a hard time deciding which one to keep. These sites are similar so it does not make any sense for me to keep them both, but the problem is that I have many friends on Flickr and Ipernity that I would like to stay in contact with.
Both my accounts expires in the end of this year which means I have some time to think about this. I will probably decide soon so I don’t have to upload photos to the site I am going to cancel. I see that some of my friends here have two accounts, but I also see that they are much more active in one account that the other. I guess they have the same problem as I do deciding what account to keep :) The question I will be asking me in the next few weeks is what account to keep and why?
Best regards,
Gunnsteinn :)

I'd hate to see you leave here, but would look at your photos there if you did.
I like the reply feature here, and Flickr is just too big, and the new front page has put me off too.
That's my 2 cents worth anyway!

Olaf says that Ipernity is a better community...... In a away he is right.
Dieter talks about more “intimate” experience here on Ipernity....... Very true.
Paul wants to support the little man :)...... Noting wrong with that :)
Mazell talks about small village feeling and easier communications between friends, (things I know so well coming from a small village) Mazell also talks about the benefit of having two accounts....... I totally agree with Mazel.
DerBaum agrees with Mazell and I agree with DerBaum :)
John enjoys the sense of community and hates to see me leave :) ....... This is what I wanted to hear :-) :-) With joke aside, nice friends like John are one of the reasons why I have a hard time leaving Ipernity.
Anthony Le Bourier mentions the family feeling..... Probably the biggest difference between Flickr and Iperntiy.
Chiappi tried both accounts and finds Ipernity more user friendly...... I have to agree here also.
I might change my mind later but after putting my thinking cap on I have decided to keep both accounts :-) I like the small village feeling and the communication part here on Ipernity so I have decided to keep this as my main account and spend less time on Flickr. I will decide what to do with my Flickr account in the beginning of next year when my subscription expires.
Best regards,
Gunnsteinn

Ipernity for me simply fits better ... more opportunities, more familiar and not that "crowded" as on flickr. On ipernity I have a much bigger community-feeling.

I kept my flickr account - never renewed the pro, so t is limited now. Reason for this being that there are lots of quite intresting photographers there too. They are there and not here, unfortunately!
Flickr is the bigger place, but with a lot of useless stuff as well, not to mention the scanned and stolen things you can find there or things that would definitely fall under jurisdictional ban even in the more liberal countries.
Some of my pictures I have still posted there. Views there are practically none (I have way far more visits here on my stream). Unless you are not really exeptionally good or have some skin on your stream you simply get lost in the mass of pictures. And if you are good enough, you'll get copied...
Yes I go there and look at things. I even look at other sites.
Yet, I feel better here!

I really enjoy looking at great photos and I know I can learn much from it, but in my profile on Flickr I mention that I am there as much for the photos as the people that takes these photos. The communication part is much better here and that is one of the main reason why I am going to keep this as my main photo site :)
Thanks again Kristian :)

I could type a lot of reasons for one of both but this are just logical and rational reasons.
The more important thing for me would be:
Where I am feeling more at home?
I got my own answer month ago and I am still sure that it is.
That means: I keep both accounts but one is getting more attention.

Oh, I know your problem... it's too much to care for 2 or more accounts.
Perhaps you know that I also have a second account at Flickr. I more stay at Ipernity than at FlickrLand. It's not easy to take a decision... for me, too:
I hate the pink hearts and blinking stars, the cute glamour cats and also the golden globe... all these stupid trophies. Okay, a lot of user like them but I like 2 or 3 sentences for my picture - I want criticism and discussion. You're one of my contacts which do that!!!
But, at Flickr there are more high quality images - my opinion!
Friends are here and there... as you can see... it's no easy to decide... as you know ;-)
Hope I see you... where ever ;-)
Gunnsteinn Jonsson replies:
I agree with you about the quality of the photos at Flickr. The community at Flickr is so much bigger so I guess it is only natural to find more great photographers there.

allmost all I wanted to say has already been said.
I also have an expired flickr account, after messing up with thousands of German users,
flickr is not a friendly environment for critical users, my critical photos have been censored.
I still have the account because of the old contacts
and when I have new photos on ipernity then I create a collection with thumbs,
these then point to ipernity - so my old contacts can easily find my photos - here on ipernity :-)

I did not revew my flickr accound because of the censorship, and they are still going on as far as I know. I removed all but three shots from my profile.
I hardly upload any shots at all on facebook. It seem that it differs from country to country, but users in Denmark can not count on keeping the copyright of any photo they have uploaded to facebook. At least that is the last I heard (around Christmas)

Passaðu þig bara á því á facebook að þeir eiga myndirnar eftir að þú setur þær þangað inn - jafnvel þó svo að þú lokir síðunni þinni... Ekki það að það skipti svakalegu máli þannig ef maður setur þær inn í lítilli upplausn en allavega veistu af þessu...

Ég má nú til með að nefna það finnst við erum að tala um eignarétt að ég var að selja mynd sem ég er með á Flickr. Ég hef gefið töluvert mikið af myndum í gegnum tíðina sem fólk hefur beðið mig um en þetta er fyrsta myndin sem ég hef selt :) Yahúúú segi ég nú bara :)

Watch out what you upload to Facebook. All that stuff will not belong to you anymore, only to Facebook Inc. t´s the same trouble with blogger and some other virtual communities. There are very few sites who respect the intellectual property.
