The following is an article by historian Ilan Pappe who taught at Haifa University. He recently left Israel and lives in London. His latest book is "The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine" where he documents the plans and actions which led to the evacuation of three quarters of the Palestinian Arab population from what became Israel. Many of those refugees populate the camps of Gaza.
