Now I am one month at ipernity, time for a short reflection – as some others did during the “Saure-Gurken-Zeit” (the slack season, untranslatable German expression) in summer.
The sytem itself runs quite smoothly but there a few annoyances. If someone posts a lot of images, the list of new documents is cluttered - the othr side has the better solution, they just offer the last five pictures. I am also worried about the general organisation of the system. On one side, responsiveness can be quite fast, but on the other side there is nothing but silence for weeks in the system blog. In addition, the programming crew consists of a mere three people. What happens if one of them leaves the company? I will not mention the group function which was promised 4 weeks ago in 2-3 weeks.
One thing I noticed during the last weeks is that there are very few comments - maybe this is because many people are on holidays. The quality of the pictures is generally quite high. In fact, on occasional visit at the othr side showed me that quality has moved to ipernity. Some have moved to nowhere.
What I enjoy most is that the communication between the users is much higher, many users start to use the blog feature - me too - and there are real discussions upcoming. I enjoy that I can get an impression of the people behind the pictures – even if the entries just say that the weather could better 8-) I also enjoy the mixture of freaks and normal people, there is an enormous range of people I would never have encountered in the real world. Mixed feelings arise if I look at the main language of many postings: as a German I feel at home because most postings are written in my native language. Personally I would prefer a more mixed environment – I like and I miss the Zen like simplicity of some asian colleagues.
i also enjoy the music, but I doubt that it will last, once the lawyers discover it.
