Spanish Food & Mexican Food- NOT THE SAME!

Thursday July 26, 2007 at 05:35AM
July 21

Spanish Pisto in the making- raw materials.

Not to be confused with Italian pesto.

Good stuff. All from our farm's gardens (which is mostly just Dad this year.. our house addition keeps us away from gardening)

There seems to be a lot of confusion about Spanish food... A in the majority of America- there are not many Spaniards. So Spanish food is a relatively unknown. Most of people I know think Spanish food is same as Mexican food. That could not possibly be any further from the truth!!

To Demonstrate:

Mexician Tortilla

Spanish Tortilla

Don't get these two confused!! it's grounds for getting kicked out of our house by my fiery Spaniard wifey... LOL (BTW all the stuff you hear about Spaniards being fiery-- is true!* I wouldn't have it any other way!)

*With apologizes to our Spanish readers here.. hehehe :)

*LMAO* @ Tortillas - So true!! Couldn't be more different... Ditto the Pisto / Pesto.

I suppose being so familiar with Spanish food it never occurred to me it would be confused with Mexican, they are poles apart! Gosh!

Yeah they are... Only thing I can think of that is remotely similar is some of Mexico's salsa and various Spanish Gazpacho & Pisto.. but even then, they're still very different!
