Just viewed a few of Lizard's (John) docs. about birds in his backyard & other places and really enjoyed it. It brought to mind a few birds I have seen lately.

At the mail box today, I heard a Bald Eagle and looked around to see if I could spot him. I finally did- On top of a bloody microwave tower with another eagle plus a big arse nest. That tower is about 1/8 mile distant, so no can do a photo, but they both were chatting up a storm.

Many years ago, when I lived in the Baltimore, Maryland area, my dog at the time started barking up a storm in the back yard. I went out to see what the fuss was all about and Scamp (my dog), was barking at a pile of leaves.
Fearing the worst, I grabbed a rake & slowly took off layer after layer of leaves, untill I saw what all the fuss was about.
There in the leaves, with lots of cob webs wrapped around it, was a Cedar Waxwing. I had never seen one in real life, just photos, but I knew right off this little guy needed some help.
So I put my barking dog inside and went & carefully picked up this little Cedar. Thankfully he didn't make a fuss about me handeling him and It took only a few short minutes to get the webbing off, but I just had to just give this little guy a good look. What a beautiful bird to say the least. I even gave his belly a few strokes.
After several minutes of just observing him & he watching me real careful, I just opened my hands, he took one last look at me, and flew off.
I was given a gift that day and will always carry it close to my heart.
Haven't seen a Cedar since except in photos.
