Got to bed, last night, at about 11 p.m. but woke up around 2 a.m. cause the critters were mouthing off especially Geeps.
Geeps wanted out the front door (the porch without screening) and so I opened the solid door but not screen door. Turned on porch light and saw what was causing all my critters to go nuts. An armidillo!
So I let Geeps out to investage! She ran up to it & sniffed its nose & at which point the armidillo jumped at her.

NOTE: Armidillos are harmless- have very poor eye sight- but great hearing & smelling powers. They are fast runners but can sort of hop too. Geep's senses are fine but she can't run worth a lick but can twist & leap out of the way real fast.

When armidillo jumped at her, Geeps twisted & leaped out of the way. Then began a few minutes of Geeps getting to know a new friend. She followed the armidillo around, as it dug in the dirt, and the armidillo didn't seem to mind at all.
I was standing on the porch -with flashlight in hand- watching them while my 2 cats bravely stood inside screened door with very wide eyes.
I finally called Geeps inside and then watched the armidillo go into the azealia bushes where it had dug a very deep hole. Never would have known it was there, if I hadn't seen it go there.
At this point, I was too awake to go back to sleep and so stayed up till 4:30 a.m. reading a book. Yup! Geeps woke me at 6 to go potty and I am still awake. Too darn hot to sleep anyway!
I took a good long look at that hole today and I am wondering if that is a den & if so, does it contain babies? This should keep my critters busy & now I wonder what do I name the armidillo?
