Da bin ich nun- wie viele von euch bin auch ich durch die Bild-Zensur auf Flickr auf diesen Dienst aufmerksam geworden. Ich bin mir noch nicht ganz sicher ob ich wirklich hierher wechseln werde- aber die Chancen dafuer stehen gut ;-)

Was mir bei Ipernity fehlt:
- Groups (ist aber lt. den News schon in Arbeit)
- eine oeffentliche API (lt. einen Flickr-Post soll es die aber geben)

Was mir an Ipernity gefaellt:
- Schickes Layout, das sehr an Flickr erinnert, aber dennoch ein paar nette Features mitbringt
- Die Moeglichkeit, seine "Homebase" zu bearbeiten (Farben und so)
- Google Maps anstatt der Yahoo Maps ;-)
- Integriertes Blog und die Moeglichkeit auch Videos, etc. zu veroeffentlichen (ich hab' zwar schon ein Blog, aber dennoch isses ein "nice to have")
- Die vielen bekannten Gesichter, die schon auf Flickr zu meinem "Netzwerk" gehoeren :)

Wenn die beiden Punkte erfuellt sind, steht einem Wechsel wohl nichts im Wege. Ich werde aber meinen Flickr-Account weiterhin am "leben" lassen.

Mal sehen was sich in den naechsten Tagen/Wochen ergibt :)

Yay! I decided to give ipernity a chance and just subscribed to my pro account (you probably already mentioned the little "pro"-flag besides to my screen name) ;-)

From now on, I will only upload new picutes to ipernity instead of flickr. I'm curious to see how this will develop :)

Things I'd like to see:
- Documented API (I already mentioned that it shall be released in the next 2 weeks :) )
- Groups (Also already in development :) )
- Trackbacks for the blog
- Guest passes (posibility to invite people w/o ipernity account to see a specific album which is marked as "private")

Yay! Another big step into "Pixlr goes Multiplatform" has been done. I just finished my first tests with the Ipernity API and I was already able to authenticate Pixlr with my Ipernity account.



The Ipernity API isn't that big yet, and most of the methods I need for Pixlr, aren't avail. yet - but according to the Iperntiy-Team, it will be expanded soon!

The biggest step for Pixlr to be usable for many different platform has been finished by me yesterday. I completelly wrote my own interface to the Flickr API. This means that Pixlr doesn't depend on the 3rd party module Flickr::API anymore but uses Pixlr::API::Flickr now. But that's not the big news... instead of calling Pixlr::API::Flickr, it now calls Pixlr::API( 'service' => 'flickr' ); this makes Pixlr easily extendable to other platforms (like Iperntiy or Zooomr). I also just finished the first beta of Pixlr::API::Ipernity and did some tests - which all worked fine. I'm curisous to test out all the other functions/methos with Ipernity - looking forward to it :)

On this way, a big thanks to Christophe from the Ipernity-Team for being so kind to offer me an API key for Pixlr :)

My new tripod

Today it arrived :) My new tripod. I got really pissed about my old tripod, as it wasn't able to handle the weight of my cam and so it always bended and I wasn't able to take a straight shot.

With the Manfrotto MA 055PROB tripod and the MA 808RC4 head this will hopefully change :)

Wie die Koelner unter euch wissen werden, finden heute Abend die 7. Koelner Lichter statt und ich habe mir vorgenommen ein paar schoene Feuerwerksaufnahmen zu machen :) Allerdings habe ich keine Ahnung wo man sich am besten plaziert.

Letztes Jahr war ich von NetCologne auf so 'ne Faehre eingeladen, aber darauf hatte ich dieses Jahr keine Lust (auch wenn die Sicht echt nicht schlecht war). Hat einer von euch 'nen Tipp von wo man 'ne gute Sicht hat? Ich hatte schon an den Triangel-Tower gedacht, aber ich weiss nicht wie sich das mit den Scheiben verhaelt, da die Feuerwerkskoerper sich ja schon ganz schoen im Glas reflektieren muessen.

Bin fuer jeden Tipp dankbar :)

In the comments to this photo, I have been asked by grapf why I've choosen HDR for this shot. As you may notice, it isn't too apparent that this is a HDR composition (compared to other HDR compositions). Well, personally I am not a big fan of these "overrealistic" HDRs - you know.. this kind of HDR where cars look like plastic - but that's just my personal opinion. I rather use HDR to enhance the dynamic range of my photos, so that you can see more details and have better light and stuff. So I try to build my HDRs as realistic as possible.

To give you a brief overview/comparison, I've uploaded the "normal" exposure to the above mentioned HDR composition:

As you can see, the shot isn't to bad at all. But some parts are (at least for my personal taste) too overexposed and the colors are looking a bit flat. Additionally I'd like to have the sky a little more dark red - just to highlight the mood and the daytime. Last but not least, the reflections on the water, are not looking so nice as well. For sure.. I could have done some raw processing to underexpose the photo a bit, but then the roofs and the skyline would fade into dark and details would disappear. As well I could do some image processing with PS to just slightly underexpose some parts of the photo, but this would be lots of work and I doubt that the result would be the same as with the HDR composition.

Now have a look at the HDR version of this shot:

Color celebration

As you will instantly notice, the colors are much more powerful and the reflections are way better than in the above version. The sky now has a really nice mood and shows that the sun was just setting- though the details of the roofs and the skyline are still visible. But besides of this, the most impressive enhancement of the HDR version (at least IMHO) are the colorful lights. They are not as overexposed as in the normal version but though very bright and a real eyecatcher.

So that's my point of view about HDR. I'm curious in hearing your opinions about this post and the comparsion between normal shots and HDR compositions. :-)

Da ich ja selbst direkt betroffen bin.. eine kleine Erinnerung an Alle :)

Am Freitag ist es wieder so weit: Dann wird der System Administrator Appreciation Day gefeiert. Jetzt ist die Zeit, jetzt ist die Stunde - spätestens jetzt sollten alle Büroarbeiter und Computerabhängigen sorgfältig ihre nächsten Schritte planen.

Worum geht es? Wie der Muttertag wurde der System Administrator Appreciation Day dafür geschaffen, um eine Keimzelle der Gesellschaft zu ehren - beziehungsweise vom Streik abzuhalten. Doch wie beim Muttertag stellt sich die Frage: worüber könnte sich die betreffende Person freuen. Keine Sorge: die wohlwollende Geste ist die Haupsache.

Obwohl: es gibt einige Dinge zu beachten. Für die wirklich tollen Geschenke ist die Zeit etwas knapp, aber ich gebe einige Hinweise. Gute Geschenke sind:

* Nahrungsmittel mit einem lächerlich hohen Koffein-Anteil
* das komplette Sortiment von Thinkgeek
* Geldgeschenke.

Abraten würde ich persönlich von

* allem, was mit der Sprache Klingonisch zu tun hat
* einem Diät-Ratgeber
* Büchern der Serie “…für Dummies”.

Denn sonst könnte der Sysadmin

* den Spamfilter “versehentlich” deaktivieren
* die Betriebsvereinbarung über die private Internet-Nutzung forcieren
* auf Deinem Rechner Windows Vista installieren.

Coincidentally I found a CD of the band "IQ". They make kinda 80's virtuoso hard rock (long solo parts with guitar and hammond organ (like Manfred Mann's Earth Band)). All in all a cool sound!

This is my song of the day from the album "Subterranea". It's pretty slow and not as "hard rock" as other songs of 'em, but I love the melody and the lyrics.

Hope you'll like it too.

I've been invited to join the Hooters concert in the LMH (Live Music Hall) this night. Actually I've been invited to join the concert to see their support band- The Urge. I had an accreditation for the gig of The Urge, so my cam was armed ;-)

It was a great concert. The Urge and The Hooters, both made a great show! Photos will follow soon :)

Indeed! ;-) I just am back from my trip to Hamburg. I was a really nice week. Hamburg is a very nice city. I really enjoyed my stay there. The training was very informative as well. Though I am happy being back at home now :)

Here a first impression of Hamburg. A HDR of the very interessting Docklands building in Oevelgoenne. It's a little bit "wiggly" as I took it free-hand, but the "mood" come over, though- doesn't it?

Down To the Waterline

Wow... I'm "shocked" ;-) I just had to read, that Nightwish is going to release a new album (which is great) - some of you may already know. I actually thought that, after Tarja left the band, Nightwish would die.

But with Anette Olzon they found a new voice. Her voice isn't comparable with Tarja's voice, though I like it. She brought kinda new sound to Nightwish and I don't think that this change is too bad.

Here is the new Single "Amaranth" of their new album "Dark Passion Play". I actually like it very much!

Today I received a Joost account. Joost is an "on-demand" television via internet service. Pretty neat. I just installed the application and zapped through the channels - and found some very nice picks (e. g. a 30 minutes live cut of a live concert of my very favourite band "In Flames" at RockWorld.tv). MTV Punk'd and Comedy Central are as well very nice to have. I'm curious in what I will explore next :)
