Wedding pictures

Last saturday I went to Düsseldorf to celebrate the wedding of friends. It was a wonderful party, beautiful location at the Rhein river. One thing they forgot (or didn't want) was to hire a professional photographer specialized in wedding photography. So I had the chance to take pictures of the party and the newly-wed couple.I was a stopgap, so I was not prepared. I carried my camera around and took pictures, just for me to learn and improve, but then it got serious...

And I think I did it poorly, I didn't expect that I would run into such a situation and now I know: wedding photography is hard work, really. It takes a lot of courage to handle such a responsibility and take pictures of such an important event in two people's life.

So I take my hat off to all the great wedding photographers out there...

Prosperous building industrie

How do you know that the building industrie in Germany prospers ?

If the construction worker are buying bottles of wine instead of beer in their lunch break. I've seen it just a few minutes ago...damn, I'm in the wrong job...

Meeting the Slovak President

Did I mention we met the Slovak president Ivan Gasparovic during our trip ?
Obviously he decided to have lunch in the same restaurant as we, the Spisský salas. He visited the Spis region because of the Official opening of the 52nd Spis Market and the 40th Spis Exhibition Fair that day.

Pictures can be found in the photostream...

Back, unfortunately :-(

So my holidays are over, damn. Now there's a lot to do, checking all your great pictures and docs here and on Flickr. I have to check my new pictures too so I can post them and explain a bit.

It was a wonderful but exhausting vacation. We hiked a lot so we had hardly time to relax... But that's what work is for, right ;-)

So we were there for 2 weeks and stayed in Strbske Pleso in the Partria Hotel. The first few days were really cold and rainy, about 10 - 16 degrees. The coldest temperature we had was 6 degrees with cold wind and rain, but I will quote my father: "There is no bad wheather, there's only bad clothing..."

So, the next days I will try to post new pictures and check all your wonderful pictures !

Holiday in Slovakia

Today I'm going to start my journey to Slovakia. I hope I'm prepared well enough to get some nice pictures.
It's been nearly exactly 1 year since my last trip to the high tatras, I learned a lot about photography since then, so I hope my pictures will have improved...
Nevertheless I will take the time to experiment...
See you all at the end of the month my friends, have a nice July !

My first impressions

So, the first few days passed by and I already met some old friends as well as some new.

Ipernity is cool somehow, it offers some cool new features and possibilities to share information, knowledge and thoughts.

Nevertheless I don't feel home yet. One problem is the new navigation structure I have to get used to. What I do not like (in contrast to some other users) is the possibility to change the color of the users page. Thats makes it even more difficult for me to check other users pages for news and updates, especially when a user has no sense for colors and puts a black font color on a dark green background...

So, my first impressions are pretty positiv...

Weird Feeling...

I can't help mysqlf but I think a lot of people only care about this censorship problem because now they have problems to see porn...

I read some threads today and that's the impression a got.

About this account / my statement to the flickr problem

I'm sad to see more and more flickr friend leave but it's also nice to see thay found a new home here.

That's why I opened this account. I'm currently seeing more and more of the best photographers leave to this platform and I don't want to loose all the inspiration. I've learned a lot from all these guys and I don't want to miss them, so I'll try to make this account my second home to stay in touch with my 'PhotoSharing' friends, wheather they are on flickr or here.

I'm not going to leave flickr because of two reasons:

  • I recently I renewed my contract for about 2 years
  • though I understand all the trouble about the flickr problem, I see no serious reason for it. I did not experience any censorship until today and the pictures that are censored are not seriously interesting for me

I hope flickr is smart enough to solve the issue. Anyway I think this censorship is a hype that will disappear sooner or later.
