What a week this has been. Started last Friday with intense pain in a back molar. Turned out 30-year-old root canal needed a tune-up. Who knew? I thought these things lasted forever ... or at least as forever as I will last. I got reminded that nothing's worse than tooth pain. Vicodin's been my new best friend. But it seems this might not be the end of the story. Now that everything root canal wise is a good as new, turns out I may have a cracked tooth, which means extraction. Sigh ...

But on a significantly more pleasant note, my partner and I got our marriage license this week for our wedding on the 24th. As some of you may be aware, California now allows same-sex marriages. So after 20 years together and 10 years after our commitment ceremony, we can now tie the knot lawfully ... at least in the eyes of the state of California, that is until November 4th, if the constitutional amendment outlawing same-sex marriages is passed by voters. It was quite exhilerating going into the county clerk's office as a gay couple to do something taken so much for granted by heterosexuals of the species.

Our big day is coming up fast!
