OBITUARY TO COMMON SENSE

Monday June 9, 2008 at 06:53PM

Today we mourn the passing of common sense, who has been with us for many years.

No one knows for sure how old he was, since his birth records were lost in bureaucratic red tape.

He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as knowing when to come in out of the rain, why the early bird catches the worm.

Life isn’t always fair and maybe it was my fault.

Common sense lived by simple, sound financial policies, don’t spend more then you earn, and reliable strategies, adult, not children are in charge.

His health began to deteriorate when well-intentioned but overbearing regulations were put in place.

Reports of a 6 year old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate, teens suspended from school for using mouth- was after lunch, and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student only worsened his condition.

Common sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job that they themselves had failed to do, to discipline their unruly children.

It declined even further to do, were required to get parental consent to administer sun-lotion or a band-aid to a student, but could not inform parents when a student became pregnant and wanted an abortion.

Common sense lost the will to live as the ten commandments became contraband, churches became business, and criminals received better treatment then their victims.

Common sense took a beating when you couldn’t defend yourself from a burglar in your own home and the burglar could sue you for assault.

Common sense finally gave up the will to live after a woman failed to realise that a steaming cup of coffee was hot.

She spilled a little in her lap and was promptly awarded a huge cash settlement.

Common sense was preceded in death by his parents, Truth and Trust, his wife Discretion, his daughter Responsibility and his son Reason.

He is survived by his step-brothers, I know my rights, Someone else is to blame and I am a victim.

Not many attended his funeral because so few realised he was gone.

IF YOU STILL REMEMBER HIM PASS THIS ON.

IF NOT ,JOIN THE MAJORITY AND DO NOTHING.

I totally agree.
Thats why restaurants now have to put on coffee cups that " CONTENTS MAY BE HOT???"
She was a model eating at McDonalds and they paid her because it was far cheaper than defense against a bogus TORT SUIT?

Common sense ended so long ago that I can't remember when he got buried in the paperwork of stupidity!

i sit here, read this blog, and smile. As i read the daily newspaper, watch the tv news, and think, has the world gone barking mad, OR, do we accept what is thrown at us by the media, TOO MUCH.
There are 2 sides to every story. Maybe at times commonsense has gone out the window, but is that our own fault for accepting whatever we accept? And we do accept it. Fuel prices rise, but we still pay. Supermarket prices rise, and we still pay. The media churns out reams of words at us, and we accept it mostly. Do we really have a choice otherwise?
So is our acceptance of such, surrendering commonsense, or is that now our daily commensense? We each differ, and as such this blue ball keeps spinning.

The next time you go to a drive up automatic teller machine, note the key pads are in braille. Think about the need to accommodate the blind as you drive away from the atm.
