Myers-Briggs Personality Types

Monday August 25, 2008 at 09:43AM

This is a psychometric test based on the work of Carl Jung and Isabel Myers-Briggs. Jung first coined the words introversion and extraversion ... one of the axes measured in the test. I have found it remarkably insightful, but then I am an INFP ... Introverted, Intuitive, Feeling, Perceiving ... only one percent of the population apparently.

If you are interested, follow the link:

www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/JTypes1.htm

I would love to hear what you think.

I was pleased to see one of our local poets William Cullen Bryant was an ENFJ as well.
I also learned I have more patience in the evening than I do in the morning. ;)

INFJ on the test I did a few months ago, but as I mentioned to you I'd like to zero in on this on my next visit to Cambridge.

The reading I've done on personality types is fascinating as well as practical.
A nice way of defining... ;-)

That makes 4 INTJs, 5INFPs, 2 ENFJs, 1 ENFP, and 1 ISFJ ...

... only five out of the sixteen types are represented. Curious. :)

... in the general US population INTJ is reckoned to be 2.1%, INFP 4.3%, ENFJ 2.4%, ENFP 8.1% and ISFJ 13.8% ... our sample is very atypical!!

OOPS!!! sorry, INFPs (as already noted) are crap at statistics and indeed most forms of organisation :)))

ISTJ ... 11.6% of the US population!

INTJ ... obviously.

Accurate. But I wonder how it works for asian or african people. An other sense of time, an other understanding of life and death. Moreover your stats are meant for american people. I would say north american people. I would not include Latin or Indios.

Shi*pro replies:
Interesting speculation ... of course, the results here demonstrate very conclusively that the stats depend on the dataset selected ... this particular 'pond dipping' exercise shows which types swim in these waters ... would love to know if the cultural differences you infer are present and, if so, how they are expressed ... hmmm, food for thought!

Shi*pro says:
artists in the art of healing, wounded healers? Tell you what, you can call yourself an artist and I can call myself a poet! ... or maybe they are the same thing?

Which reminds me of the thing about a cat being an animal with four legs but not all animals with four legs are ... oh well, you get the idea.

There does however seem to be a de facto association between INFP and the arts tho' and you are indubitably an artist!

Does that do it for you? ;)
