Kerouac's Desolation

Saturday June 28, 2008 at 10:43PM

... and where are the angels now?

In the high places.

Where most people don't go.

Alone.

In nature. Of nature.

To the low places.

From the high places.

Love.

From me to me.

From me to you.

Austere reflections.

Of a hopeful traveller.

Returning.

Home.

A lot of people read 'On the Road' or 'Dharma Bums' but in 'Desolation Angels' Kerouac comes close to Rousseau and Thoreau in a consideration of human isolation in the wilderness. Last night I watched a film called 'Into the Wild' which deals with similar themes; the rejection of materialism, the virtue of individual experience, the reality of nature ... which reminded me of Kerouac, resonated with a quiet evening alone ...

'Happiness resides not in possessions and not in gold, the feeling of happiness dwells in the soul'.

angels in high places are waiting for these lowlands people know to call them, question them, their open space inside, which alone allows the reliance.
the desert and desolation are the results perhaps of lack of love for these angels who are here with us. Nature is revelation, alone with she...love from me to me, me to you, us for them...
cool way my friend..the road is long and home is warm...

There is always also the trope where the recluse comes down from the mountain, having communicated with angels ... from Moses to Kerouac ... neither was allowed into the Promised Land of course ...

This one, this Dave, this Shi*, .... compelled to share ...

Big Thanks, Brigit - for your constant friendship and sharing of the journey!

'No guru, no method, no teacher'

the experience is direct ...
archetypal influences take many names ...
in our shared humanity
our shared animality
our shared life
our shared existence ...
... multifaceted sensors/affectors
... fractal iterations of others, of others of others ... of one thing.

... a big piece, I would say ... I respect all spirituality.

... one's road is the only way.

Now these three remain
Faith, Hope, and Love
And the greatest of these is Love

-Corinthians 13

a worthy sentiment that I share with you and your god. :)
