Today I almost had a heart attack when I emptied the developing tank after five minutes with a sodium thiosulfate fixer that I have prepared. The fixer came out almost black and I thought, "My God, it cleared all the silver!"
But, when I opened the tank and peered the film it was very well developed and fixed. The problem had to do with the fixer not been boiled in a glass container, I used a stainless steel bowl instead. Possibly the iron or whatsoever reacted with the silver halide and gave a black precipitate. But I filtered the fixer through a coffee filter and I will reuse until exhausted. Or not? What do you suggest me to do?
