Because...

...I have grown ever-so-slightly weary of my own music, surely a temporary lapse of enthusiasm, I have decided to post one or two tracks from each of the CDs I received for Christmas or my birthday. Because most, though not all, were either ordered from my Amazon wishlist or were given in the form of gift certificates -- and because those who dare to give me discs are all too aware of my musical tastes, or deficiencies therein -- any blame must accrue to me. These are what I would have bought had I bought these for myself. Jazz fans, especially devotees of the rare, the odd, and the hopelessly obscrure, may wish to take note. Although I have wide-ranging, and occasionally even normal, musical tastes, most of what I got this years was jazz -- with one or two peculiar exceptions. The tracks I will document over the coming days are neither typical nor atypical.

Also, I may begin to write more for consumption by a vanishingly small public. I have only one language, English, but fellow English-speakers do not understand it most of the time. I can only hope that those who do not understand what I say understand me better. Or perhaps not -- being "misunderstood" has a certain aura.

Nonsense Verse

Goochsong

"Strumpet peptide labia
All across the ocean sea.
Trumpet sounds from baby. A
Most sorrowful thing to be.
A crumpet pumped in gravy. A
Corpuscular term for tea.
A bump, it slumped in habeas,
And baby gang aft aglee."

So sings the song of goochkins
When nuzzled by the shore
Whilst twiddling in their pooch skins
(Quoth raven, "Never more.
Though less will do quite nicely
In our wobbly kneedrop dance."
They may intone it twice. The
Young blackbirds drop their pants.)
The gooches march full streaming
As virgins on the way
Must needs resort to screaming
If they're to have their way.
They weigh a scant two puckers,
And goochbeasts are so strong,
Anciliary pluckers
Need not detain them long.

But Mama in her labor,
And Bert in his sarong,
Ask cherry trees a favor,
And burn a leather thong.
But gods will not be mocked now,
Nor goddesses in heat.
For rifles are uncocked now,
And dinner only meat.
The goochlings take no stock yet.
They've curtains in their eye.
If someone were to prick it,
They'd sizzle then and die.
But not without protection,
The goochos wear a patch.
They most fear vivisection
Of one or in a batch.

Lord Tylenol of Cramford
Is thinking up a stunt
For psychogenic blackbird --
"Straight ramming up the front!"
But Nurse and Twit and Tillie
Are hiding in a box,
And all feel rather silly
Without three pair of socks.
Love's never what we think it
When we do think at all;
The glove's all filled so drink it --
Retrieve the bouncing ball.
"Leviathan," quoth General
Vaselenia from his tub,
"will fertilize the goochlicks."
Aye, but there's the rub.

Those starch-pronged mental wealels
Explode with quite a mess.
Officials with their tweezles
Will force them to confess.
But mute they are save squealing,
And squeaky heads to toe.
Through fingers all are stealing
And off their seedlings flow.
"It's not our fault," pled Doctor,
"We were not raised to pee
On mythopoeic creatures
Sans etymology."
The mayor was with his mistress
Until she was not there.
His mare was with his mistress
Removing underwear.
The village dragged out cannon
So they could have a fling,
The spectacle unmannin' --
And goochans all didst sing:

"Strumpet peptide labia
All across the ocean sea.
Trumpet sounds from baby. A
Most sorrowful thing to be.
A crumpet pumped in gravy. A
Corpuscular term for tea.
A dump, it humped in habeas,
And baby ate the key."

O! Link!

Because of continuing problems with many ipernity functions -- no progress on that score, which is why I am so profoundly silent -- I've been unable to link the images cleverly labeled (AA14 and (AA17 to the original photograph from which I'd been working. And here it is, in the only place I can find to put it:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/insights/804569670/

I do highly recommend all of the photographs at this site, as well as the extraordinary poems and stories. It should be noted that some of these are probably not suitable for those given to heart flutters or sudden vapours. You know who you are.

If this blog function continues to work, I may post here from time to time, with my myriad reflections on the great questions of the ages, interspersed with pointless stories, and possibly-not-true-possibly-not-my-confessions.

MY APOLOGIES TO ALL AND SUNDRY...

I remain unable to comment on the posts and documents of others, or even to respond to the comments on my own work -- without being immediately logged out. I continue to work, albeit highly intermittently, on solving this intractable problem, but my attentions are often required elsewhere, I have no technical abilities beyond the below-eudimentary, and I'm afraid that I keep attempting the same "solutions" over and over again. Still, all communications and responses are read with wide-eyed enthusiasm, deep appreciation, and whipped cream on top. I will be a fully functioning member of ipernity one day, and on that day I intend to spend too much money on books and CDs. Until then, thank you for your polite attention.

And Furthermore

This is addressed to those of you who have been kind enough to leave comments, as well as to those of you who will read just about anything. My attempts to reply to comments -- as well as some attempts to modify titles, delete things, add descriptions, and such -- have been met with severe accusations by the system that I've "fallen asleep on the keyboard" (FAOTK, for those fond of melifluous abbreviations.) Hell, I barely fall asleep in bed -- and the message is instantaneous, clearly not the result of my deciding to lie on the floor and have a little nap while logged on to ipernity.

If I figure out what's wrong, I'll reply. If not, not. But despite the fact that I am somewhat antisocial, I am not nearly so antisocial as this system quirk makes me seem. Doubtless it's just a box I forgot to check somewhere. My command of the technical is somewhere between nonexistent and purely imaginary.
