I'm not usually one to bring activism into my images, but this issue is close to my heart, and I find it important to make a little noise. Not just because this family are frriends, but because I expressly support the sustainable low impact lifestyle they are trying to create, and their right to develop sustainable housing on this particular piece of land.

Cornwall Council intends to prosecute Daniel and Lora Newman on August 9th 2013 for living on their land with their two sons on the edge of Carharrack in breach of an enforcement notice.

The Newmans say: "We are striving to be self-sufficient and to live in a sustainable way in harmony with our surroundings and our local community. We have got strong support from our neighbours and would appreciate it if as many people as possible could also show that they too believe we should be allowed to live on our land by signing our petition or writing letters of support. Without our land we will be nothing but homeless."

The Newmans are supported not just by their neighbours, but also by their local community AND their MP. Yet Cornwall Council will not yield.
