I cannot say a certain day of our Chile trip was the most exciting, but this day was a very special one.....

We started early in the morning at the Terra Luna Lodge near Puerto Guadal on the southern shore of Lago General Carrera. A beautiful and lonesome place with awesome views of the deep blue lake. A dirty road leads about 120 km along the coast to Chile Chico. You pass wild river deltas and over 30 km the road was blown up through the steep rocks, attended always by the view to the blue to emerald colored water, 5 minutes with rain, 5 minutes with sun, rainbows, weather changing rapidly. After crossing the "Quebrada el diabolo", a very deep canyon, we reached the border to Argentina.

Then we wanted to take the Ruta 41 south, one of the most beautiful roads I ever saw and which we knew from our trip 10 years ago. We were not sure, if it's possible or not due to heavy rains the day before, so we asked in Los Antiguos.......the fire brigade: NO, impossible, bridges are destroyed......the military: YES, no problem.....the customs at the border: NO, impossible, no way....a man on the street: YES, of course......finally we met a native couple: YES, we came from Ruta 41 yesterday, it's possible, but difficult. "difficult" means no problem. for the next 170 km we met only 2 guys with motorcycles, one of them crashed down 2 times on the way. the road leads through a moon-like landscape, up to bizarre mountains, ice showers included, but it was rewarding at all.

Finally late in the evening we reached Lago Posados, tired, but full of impressions, passing many salt lakes the last 50 km's.
