new start...

so here I am... Still don't know if I should make a complete cut and start all over new here or post some of the pics that are already on flickr... Somehow I don't want a new start... I hate decisions.

I reckon... whenever possible I leave the decision open until... until... everything just goes its way or other people wake up in the morning and know what to do or not to do... So... this is me then... ... well... the weather really is shitty today, might be the reason why the world sucks, but then... some people are only happy when it rains...

gosh...

just when I almost decided to have a lazy afternoon, staying in bed and watching British comedy, my lecturer from university - I am working for him - called and asked if I could read and correct some texts for him... he needs to send it tonight...

I couldn't say No, could I?!

funny thing is... the text is also about a project in which I am going to write my master thesis... So I was just "ah, that's me" when reading that passage. =)

It's so nice to have a plan, or at least an idea, what happens after all the exams. Really takes some pressure from me (well, only when you do not think too "detailed" about it...).

I am screaming!

It's monday morning and it's pouring with rain.

I am tired and just got the information that the weather forecast doesn't show one of these sweet little suns until tuesday - next week. Anyway, why is _he_ passing that information to me? _He_ has to live with me, so _he_ should be really careful on what to tell me on a rainy moday morning...!

Two weeks and two days to go to my examination... I get more and more scared. And my head feels more and more like it could explode any time, just by touching it or making a wrong move...

oh what an annoying start of a new week! :-(

summer?!

it's july!

I'm wearing a fleece sweater, winter-socks and still have to drink hot fluids to keep me warm...

something's wrong here! (I reckon someone didn't pray hard enough...!!! :-/ )

(and no... please don't tell me anything about global warming - can't hear that anymore. It's cold. That's it!)

edgy me!

I am profoundly nervous and fidgety, I can't concentrate on all the work I have to do and my boyfriend won't believe me that oil/petroleum is _not_ made of dinosaurs...!

(Well, actually he searched the whole internet to prove me wrong, then finally he found something that told him that this (-oil is made of dead dinosaurs-) was a theory 20 years ago... Which also shows that his children's lexicon wasn't at all wrong. Thanks God! Now we can live happily ever after...)

keep on rollin' baby

24 hours.

in about 24 hours I'll be a nervous wreck. two hours later I reckon I'll be drunk. but now I actually feel fine and pretty calm. probably can change every second. I try not to think of it...
Anyway... right now I am more looking forward to it. I want this examination to be over. I need to become normal again: Talked to my breakfast yesterday and had a half-serious homophobia-incident...! Not to mention my not-very-existent sex-life and the desperate jumping-attacks I have from time to time...

Good: slight feelings of indifference are taking over my thoughts.

I'll be fine...!!!

sushi for the soul

all the time I wondered if it was worth it to be *that* ambitous about that examination.

now I know: It definitely wasn't.

I will never "give up my life" again for a damned mark...

Objectively I still did good. But it wasn't what I expected.

So, I got some sushi for the soul and now I will go and see bruce willis to keep me distracted. and then I will just try to forget about everything. and start living...

and now for something completely different...

boys don't cry
boys don't cry
I know it is not very ethical to still watch tour de france these days. I still did it until yesterday. Yesterday, broadcast-stations in Germany stopped the live reporting of the tour because of a new doping incident of a young and hopeful German rider.

I was a bit annoyed at first, because this just happend when my examination was over and I would have really had the time to watch the tour - especially when it is going into the pyrenees in a few days. (I love mountains. To see the landscape is one of the reasons I like watching this sport-event...!).

On the other hand, I think it was a good choice of the stations. It's consequent and gives a clear signal - though I don't know if this will really prevent them from doping. Maybe just works long-term when all the sponsers stop their sponsering in cycling because of this and... and what? No more cycling anymore? At all? ... Probably not. Maybe just in Germany... Sounds like they don't make such a fuss about doping in other countries.

Well, I really wonder how this whole tour-and-doping-stuff will go on. What do you think? Am I the only one that still likes and watches LE TOUR despite all ethical reason? (bad, bad me...).

aaaaah, weekend =)

this feels good. the work for the day is done. had a little change of perspectives today. in the morning I had to supervise a test at university. in the afternoon I had to write one myself...

well, maybe 'write' is not the right word. the test was in a computer programme we are working with (ArcGIS), so the first bit was some theory, the other practice infront of the desktop. actually I found it pretty relaxing. much easier than what we did during the lessons... - which was good, because after my *big & important* examination last week I couldn't be bothered to do much for this one...

So after the test I just wanted to give my lecturer (fwhom I am working for) some keys back, but he asked so kindly to do him a favour (no,actually two)... that I couldn't say no ;-)

But now I am home, listening to Joshua Radon (played as an opener for the incredible ms. tori amos) and get my stuff ready to meet some friends for barbeque at the Neckar-River. Life can feel sooooooo gooooood =)

Talking about good: I AM NOT going to work much this weekend - instead...as my boyfriend isn't home this weekend I will shamelessly cheat on him - with Harry Potter...

I wish you all a relaxed and sunny weekend!

(untaken) photo of the week...

I went for a run today and it was sooo beautiful :-) ... the sky in dark grey, the sun coming out, illuminating the trees in a wonderful green and at a particular place golden hay bales, the Odenwald and a grey sky in the background - and even a rainbow!!

As I never take my camera when I go running this beautiful picture stays only in my head - and you... you are left with your own imagination of a beautiful place...

I never was a Nintendo person...

we just got out my boyfriends old super nintendo. I even agreed to play... (wtf came to my mind?!)

but now after falling down those pixels again and again after attempting to jump back on that yoshi-thing (I admit, I'm not very well-coordinated) I'm pissed and let him finish the levels for me ;-)

either I'm not patient enough (which might most probably the case!) or I'm just not talented... the only game I could ever get the hang of was Tetris... (I still have my old gameboy...!).

... so now I guess I will really have to make an effort to stop him playing - otherwise I'll have to listen to that ringel-ding-ding-music the whole night ;-)

I wonder... about saying thanks for comments

Not worth mentioning, but I am usually very happy when people comment on my pictures (especially when they say they like it...). Polite as I am I would now like to thank those people...

But... somehow I don't really like it when every second comment under my picture is by me saying "thanks" (using the reply button). And when I just say thanks after a few comments (not using the reply button), people will only see that when they come back...

So... I don't really know what to do... I probably will keep replying to comments I really have to say something or that made me *extremely* happy ;-)

Any other suggestions?

Well... for those who don't get a personalized reply from me (are there people who expect this? tell me!): In general, I really appreciate your comments and I am always glad when people like it (or tell me what they don't like...) or it makes them laugh or they get inspired or whatever...

I'm back...

and I already let you have a guess, where I have been "on holidays"...

So?

And no... a students budget is not very likely enough for a trip to the moon...

But... as I was told: "Geographers are never really able to go on holidays"... So maybe this explains why I was so keen to travel to the Eastern part of our Republic to see some opencast mines...

moon-making

The "moon-pictures" were taken in an inactive opencast mine (with a guide...) that is going to become a lake by 2018. There are lots of other lakes in the region that are already fully flooded or will be in the next few years. So there is a lot of change visible in the landscape which was very interesting (at least in my opinion...).

By the way... I was inspired to this whole trip by a picture I saw here on ipernity - so thanks to extranoise :-)

the inspiration

The photo shows those very interesting towers and following his link I learned that there is the Internationale Bauaustellung with some interesting projects in the region... And as I have never seen brown coal opencast mines before, but always wanted to, and as there wasn't a "big holiday" planned for the summer anyway - that's what we did... ;-)

More about this trip in German (sorry...) and a few more pics of the area here...

conspiracy theories

a few things happened the last days that gave me the slight feeling that I am being "conspired".

It all started with the bad weather this weekend ("the general weather conspiracy") by which they assured that I stay at home instead of spend the weekend hiking in the Alps.

On Saturday I went for a run, taking mp3-player no.3 with me, because mp3-player no. 2, some chinese ipod-fake, annoyed me and no.1 I tought was broken. Actually no.1 is still working fine, just the batteries - that my beloved boyfriend gave me assuming they were new - were damn flat. That's actually the "partnership-conspiracy": they make him do all that stuff that makes me crazy in the one way or other. Anyway... the hardest thing to take that day was the result of their "technical conspiracy": mp3 player no. 3 was only playing the playback-versions of all the songs! WTF?! (Sometimes you could understand a line of singing, the rest of the voice seemed to have gone... I checked all the different settings... nothing...!!!)

I actually thought there wasn't anything worse than running without music. Now I learned that there is... And... well... yes... I tend to get aggressive when something is spoiling my "running-hour". They know that obvioulsy... And not enough of that... mp3 player no. 3 is my boyfriend's one and so I had an hour time to consider whether he might have by any chance ever noticed the playback-problem or not... (I really cope better with those things when they are definitely *my* fault...).

Then, on Sunday I planned to go to the library to study for my next examination (which is part of their "boring life conspiracy") when I - after 3 metres riding on a somehow wobbly bike - found out that the frame of my bike was broken... Perfect! And well done, because that's part of their strategy to wear you down by constricting your basic needs (also known as "transportation conspiracy"). I decided then to walk, which was not so nice because my pulled muscle (or whatever... which I probably got because of too aggressive running the day before) ached. (Which btw also meant I couldn't go running which would have been really necessary due to some of their "partnership-conspiracy" as well as "I hate my life-conspiracy" activities...).

Monday (today)... went quite fine... until... mr.boyfriend and I wanted to go to the fitness-classes which the university offers. Due to their sucessful "transportation conspiracy" (broken bike) and "general weather conspiracy" (pouring rain) we wanted to take the car. Guess what happend when he wanted to start the car...?!

Right... Nothing! ... So we stayed at home - another success of the "boring life conspiracy". ... Well... only partly a success, because they forgot to keep the rain going, so I could at least go for a run (I really hate it when they cross all my plans...!). ... Problem was that after a while I felt that aching pulled muscle (or whatever) again.

_Might_ be that in this case it was not their conspirational work, but my own unreasonableness... but then... who do you think got me addicted in the first place...?!?!

Pro bug?! - UPDATE!

UPDATE

Like I supposed in the end (as nobody else had - or mentioned - this "problem") my new pro-status was a present from someone... I should have known from the beginning... ;)

So... THANKS VERY MUCH to my sponsor for supporting Ipernity by this :D

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am pro and didn't know...

I mean... I just realised that I have a pro account, but I didn't buy one...

Finally a nice bug ;)

Did anybody have the same "problem" before?

Or did somebody give me a pro account (but then... wouldn't I have been noticed...)??

funny..... :-)

it's over... and it goes on...

aaaaaaaaaah. it's over... :)

I had my last exam today - I will never have to study for any exam again... (at least I hope so...). This feels so good :-)    (the exam itself went quite well... At least that's my feeling... I guess the results will take quite a while...).

But now life goes on... rather quickly in this case... in 2 1/2 weeks I will fly to Ras al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates for my master thesis. I will be there for two months so be prepared for some sandy pictures... ;)

Until then I will be really busy with my job as an assistant student at university, important things my lecturer needs me to do (yay, I am so important, LOL). And of course there are enough bits and pieces to prepare for my stay in Ras al Khaimah (Does anybody know if they block ipernity there? And if so also a way to work around the blocking? ... I know there were ways for flickr, which is blocked in the UAE).

But for tonight... I think you all know what I will be doing.... hehe... ;)
