yes i know picasa and the ipernity's tool but is there anything else?

posterous is the best thing since a long time, if you don't know it - check it out.

it's blogging by email - and autoposting / forwarding this post to more sites like facebook, friendfeed, flickr, twitter, ... all with a single email... very easy! Video, picture and audio attachments suported.

But i think they should really add ipernity to their autopost-list:

some personal words:

his death has been a hype topic on twitter and elsewhere since it was made public and some people started making fun of it or got upset by the mass of tweets concerning the topic. i do not understand this. yes every hype topic is disturbing for some in their timeline (tv shows, polititcs ,... ) but you cannot pretend that this is not important to talk about this for some people that at least want to say goodbye or something - show a little respect in a way. We are all human, we have a social core, some more, some less. if you don't want to read it keep your twitter clients closed or unfollow then follow back. I do think this has something to do with respect- also for those who tweet about it. Kind of "being part of it", some people probably feel better when they know and realize that they are not alone with their emotions and thoughts - generally or in this case. yes, most of all the people didn't know MJ in person but they can still have feelings for him or his music and his death now. I don't think it's just hype. Twitter is communication, communication means good and bad, ups and downs, not always funny, not always rational - we are human, right?

Michael Jacksons music and the rumors and stories about his life have been part of my childhood and teenage years and until now. I am not a super-fan or something but i liked his music and what effect it had on the music and dance world. I was curious about the planned final tour that was about to begin in a few days... He was a crazy guy in ways i like and in some i don't understand and don't really know much about. But so be it, i do wanna show respect and say i was shocked by the news.

A few days ago i got an invite to expono - which looks like just another photo-sharing site at first sight. It has a few features ipernity doesn't, but it's not always a question of features.

Here are some screenshots (ipernity) - also you can view them here (expono).

What i like about it (that ipernity is missing):

• getsatisfaction.com support
• twitter and facebook integration
• clean website design, look and feel
• nice javascript slideshow with keyboard navigation
• album & picture sharing with passwords for non-members
• the credit idea & rating pictures
• find duplicates
• photo stack
• inbox look and feel / distinction of system and real messages
• viewers can filter and sort pictures instantly
• the activity dashboard
• see featurelist for details

What i don't like or miss about it:

• not enough space: only 1GB of free space
• too expensive: pro accounts are 45$ with 10GB a year, at ipernity you can get 10GB a month for 24€ a year, i think even flickr is cheaper
• feature and icon-overload for people that are not used to it
• quite new, so the community is missing

Actually i feel home at ipernity and i do not want to "move" again, even though i could use some of exponos features. Some of them are on my personal wishlist for ipernity for some time now.

twitpic is a nice service to quickly share pictures at twitter. unfortunately it seems not to be able to handle the growth, so looking for alternatives is inevitable. I made a list which i update whenever i find some other service. See: bit.ly/twimagelist2

Wenn euch mal richtig langweilig ist, und ihr wie ich auf Bilder- und Videokonsum steht, schaut hier vorbei:

Slidshow mal anders. Ähnlich ffffound, nur schöner, schlichter. Aber Vorsicht, man kann sich schnell dort verlieren in schönen und lustigen aber vor allem sehr inspirierenden Fotografien, Illustrationen, Designs und Videos.

Vor allem steh ich ja mittlerweile voll auf Tastaturbedienung auf Websites.

Der einzige Grund auf der Seite nicht nur ↓ und → zu nutzen ist, wenn man nicht widerstehen kann und klicken will.

coz good pics are not only on ipernity and that other site.

i also tested imgfave, weheartit, zootool, tumblr, enjoysthings.
but none of them could compete with the speed to bookmark, the feature-list* or pureness of design. i don't have an account for ffffound unfortunately, one of the most popular sites and dropular.

so for now this is gonna be my place to keep em...

I am still looking for a good way to upload multiple pictures from my iphone picture gallery to ipernity in one step. I remember that i have done that with shozu on my old nokia cellphone. but it seems that shozu on the iphone doesn't let you choose more than one picture. does it? plus, i couldnt find a way to add sharing options - i want them to be private first.

i tested pixelpipe as well, same results concerning the sharing options. here you can choose multiple images though. but be careful, if you add more than one destination, pixelpipe sends the pics to ALL these websites. cool for those who want that.

i'd wish shozu would let me add sharing options (or let me do it the picturesync-way with a "!private" tag) and choose multiple pics at once - put em in a queue and upload them. or pixelpipe should give its users a chance to upload to ONE site only and WITH sharing options.

i like that both have a pile of services you can upload to like ipernity, facebook, twitter, twitpic, picasa, box.net, brightkite (pp) and so on. depending on the pic it's good for me to upload them to different places than ipernity.

of course there's still the email-way that lets you add "share : private" , but you can only send one pic at a time and it takes long...

so, does anyone have a solution for this?

maybe a good idea to develop an ipernity iphone app and even make some money with it?!

Link-shorteners are very helpful for turning long URLs into a short link for sharing with twitter, IM or email i.e.

There are quite a few now you can choose from. Here's a collection and my personal rating.

• tinyurl.com the mother if them all, (+custom name, -no other features, popular)
• cli.gs (+custom name, +stats, +graphs, +conditional redirects )
• tr.im (+design, +very short URLS, +custom name, +tags, +stats, +graphs, +password?? )
• bit.ly (+custom name, +stats, +graphs)
• tweetburner.com (+design, +stats, -no custom name)
• moourl.com (+custom name, +design, -no other features)
• is.gd (+very short URLS, +custom name (with trick), -no other features)
• budurl.com (+custom name, +stats, -graph only with pro account)

The bold orange ones are the ones i prefer because of their features.

If you want to put multiple links into one check these:

• linkbun.ch (+1 field for all links, +easy) example
• krunchd.com/krunch (+design, +edit links, -all links public )
• shrink2one.com (+1 field for all links, +easy, +custom name, +password )
• zipmyurl.com (+password protection, +design, +tags, -no stats)

I prefer using a bookmarklet to create the short link, but some services do have Firefox Browser-Plugins or even an API.

If you don't need stats or any other features, all these work fine right now.
Keep in mind that some of these sites may not be available anymore sometime (soon maybe) cause they end up in the deadpool. But usually you use these shortened links for a quick sharing link anyway and do not need it anymore after a couple of days.

Kontain.com This could be a new competitor to ipernity (if there can ever be something like that).

I must say that it's the most beautiful site i have seen since vimeo. (some screenshots)

Since i am testing all these new sites i wanted to let you know :) Doesn't mean i tell you to leave ipernity. I would never do that. ;)

i decided to take some time off, meaning as far as i can.

Wie versprochen noch ein paar mehr Fakten zu meinem 365minutes Projekt.

In 273 Filmen war ich komplett allein (75%). Ja, ich hab mich selten getraut andere Leute miteinzubeziehen. Auch vor Fremden, die einem eigentlich völlig egal sein könnten, hab ich mich zurückgehalten. Ich wollte halt niemand mit meiner Filmerei nerven oder stören. Freunde, bei denen ich sicher war, dass sie nichts dagegen hatten, oder die ich gefragt habe vorher, tauchen ab und zu auf. Wäre ein schönes Abschlussvideo geworden, wenn ich all die zusammen nochmal in einem Video hätte zeigen können, aber das wäre schwierig geworden bei einigen :)

Scheiße gefühlt hab ich mich meistens montags, und gut meistens samstags. Ob das wirklich direkt mit der Arbeit zusammenhängt ist damit nicht gesagt. Nur hab ich definitiv am Wochenende mehr Chancen für Ausgleich, Verarbeitung, Ablenkung und Spaß mit Familie und Freunden oder allein mit lauter Musik oder dem Rad draußen. Außerdem oft mehr Zeit sich mit den Filmen und dem Editieren zu beschäftigen, was ja auch einen riesen Spaß gemacht hat.

Die Dateien waren im Schnitt 8 MB groß, meistens Quicktime Movies. Der längste 121 Sekunden und der kürzeste 50 Sekunden lang - anstatt 60. Warum der 50er weiß ich nicht mehr, evtl ein technischer Fehler, vielleicht aber auch einfach egal. 50 Sekunden ist glaube ich Minimum laut der Regeln :D

Wie bereits im ersten Posting erwähnt sind ca 70% der Filme mit Musik unterlegt. Top-Bands waren hierbei Fresh Body Shop und featherdrug (beides französische Bands die unter creative commons Lizenz ihre Werke z.b. bei Jamendo veröffentlichen). Top kommerzielle Band war Angels & Airwaves, eine meiner Lieblingsbands.

Ideen, die ich hatte für ein neues Projekt:

• täglich oder z.b. einmal wöchentlich live über uStream oder Qik mit Chat und Rückkanal durch die Zuschauer. Wäre allerdings doof, wenn dann keiner guckt :D Schwierig auch eine passende Zeit zu finden.
• Das 52minutes Projekt weitermachen oder neustarten. Im Prinzip wie 365minutes, nur halt nicht täglich sondern wöchentlich eine Minute, das ist nicht ganz so anstrengend. Ich hab damals einfach die einminüter verwurstet, damit nicht noch mehr Aufwand. Am liebsten wäre mir aber etwas ohne Längenvorgabe (oder flexibler z.b. 10 Sekunden bis 10 Minuten).
• Bei Youtube sind meine meistgesehenen Videos die German-Lessons, die ich teilweise sogar vor dem Videoprojekt einfach so aus Spaß gemacht hab. Ich werde oft nach mehr solcher Videos gefragt. Wäre auch eine Idee sowas zu machen, vielleicht einmal pro Woche oder einfach dann wenn's passt.
• Sowas wir nen eigenen Kurzfilm starten und den täglich oder wöchentlich oder wie auch immer ein Stück weiterbringen. Dafür sind meine Tage aber zu chaotisch glaube ich. Geil wäre aber vielleicht so eine Idee gemeinsam zu starten, also einer fängt an ein paar Sekunden aufzunehmen und der nächste hängt hinten ein Stück Fortsetzung dran. :) Klingt doch spannend oder? Wie Stöckchen zuwerfen...
• Da war noch mehr, fällt mir aber grad nicht ein ...
