Anyone using a flashgun bracket?

Thursday July 26, 2007 at 12:14PM

I need some recommendations to prevent a repeat accident

Last Christmas, my son (age 3) helpfully decided to bring his daddies camera where it was safely (I thought) left on a shelf to daddy and away from his friends sticky hands. Very responsible child. Sadly as he arrived at the kitchen door (a long trek with a 20D and flash) he caught his foor in the camera strap. I have endured flashback memories of the resultant slo mo fall of camera to the floor. Thankfully, I was able to get the flash-shoe fixed for £30 and there was no other damage except a little bending to the hotshoe.

So as part of my future proofing against similar problems and because I'd like to cut down on harsh shadows and red eye, I want to get a flash bracket. Just not sure what is best. I'd rather have light and flexible, I'm not in the business and so unlikely to want full pro standards of robustness.

Anyone got any top tips?

PS have off shoe cord now - although Canon took their time making some.
