I take the floor (28) - Tomo a palavra (28)

I remember more than half a century's life

I am conformed to the gray and humid city's light living without changes in the adrenalin's level

suddenly

through Lisboa's dim winter light

an immoderate diamond bursts like a sun's bite in the monotony

is your body

and soul

in a smile's travel

forever

making a stop in my chest.

Silent Smile (4)
Silent Smile (4)

e alma

em viagem de sorriso

para sempre

a fazer escala no meu peito.

I take the floor (29) - Tomo a palavra (29)

Avenida da República, II

The noises repeat themselves in the avenue

and also the light

as yesterday

the traffic's death rattle in the lane

the steps' drag on the sidewalk

the talks' murmur at the outdoor coffee shop

the exposed navels over slipped trousers of fat girls

the works on the underground

the blind persons with offensive moneyboxes

the empty offices before the lunch

and also after

the infernal hot of  the August month

the forest fires

the extended dry

the ozone's hole

the beaches not so far away

at South and West of Lisboa

the sea repeats itself through each wave

and the light is of foam

as yesterday.

Eva Penalva (painter) - (pintora)

Eva Penalva, born in Lisboa, artist not in exclusivity. Normally, an artist born in Portugal to survive under dignified conditions either belongs to a rich family or exercises any remunerated profession. In this case the artist worked at the Portuguese Broadcasting. I refer the professional activity due to a strong influence it impressed on her artistic expression.

The Colour of Silence (painting)
The Colour of Silence (paintin…

The music, the nature essentially liquid of life, the dream while rhythm of ideas as dancing bodies, the colours of soft tones (even the sea's blues are diaphanously luminous); and also their antithesis, the silence (even though instruments and musical notes are recurrently on the canvas), the solid and ignited material either submerged or superficial, the life abstractly accomplishing its instincts, the tones always definitely feminine, ochre, sepia, white; build up the artist's universe.

This is the Eva's way. She also goes serene, kind, light and harmonious presence, creating an original and expressive art that can be nearly always immediately symbolic interpreted, very often surrealistic but based on life and dream. I mean the artist has both feet on earth, hears the star's music around the sun and controls its movements with a baton of light.

The Swan's Lake (painting)
The Swan's Lake (painting)

I take the floor (30) - Tomo a palavra (30)

Springtime

blue afternoon fits the golden bodies

with satin's caresses

strangely the adults

of unbearable tenderness

smile to winged children.

Serra da Estrela, brooms
Serra da Estrela, brooms

Primavera

tarde azul veste os corpos dourados

em carícias de cetim

inexplicavelmente os adultos

de incontida ternura

sorriem às crianças aladas.

I take the floor (31) - Tomo a palavra (31)

Self-portrait

I see you.

Arch's illusion from poor eyebrows

concise eyes like pin's heads animate your stone' smooth face

thin lips of tense irony draw your mouth where dreams die.

Pipe smokes your smells

flowing liquids

long throat down.

You get lost in the mirror.

Face.

Antonieta Roque Gameiro (sculptor) - (escultora)

Antonieta Roque Gameiro, specialized sculptor of the woman body knows the feminine sensibility through her mouldering hands and settles their individual and social attitudes before the existence through the terra-cotta burning up or the everlasting hardness of bronze.

Lying Beneath the Sun (sculpture)
Lying Beneath the Sun (sculptu…

Concretely we are seriously settled down on the women's kingdom, very often girls, alone, plunged into the intimacy of their nature and beauty, smiling, meditating or waiting for a sudden and surprising love. The poses, the not corrupted expressions, the singularity and diversity of inspiration's moments have allowed the artist to create an extended gallery of masterpieces currently disputed by a faithful and connoisseur public.

Seated Lady (sculpture)
Seated Lady (sculpture)

Antonieta has the talent to move us. Her forms acquire an expression's lightness, sensuality and sweetness not easy to convey into the materials used in the creative process. Since a long time now I wish to say to Antonieta Roque Gameiro how much emotion and pleasure I have been given with the long-lasting and always renewed observation of her women / girls, and also some delicate details of the feminine condition she helped me to understand.

This is a confession, wrote in my intimacy, I share it with the artist and I don't mind with its public exposure.

Laid Down Girl (sculpture)
Laid Down Girl (sculpture)

Awaiting For (sculpture)
Awaiting For (sculpture)
