Films for Inspiration

Friday October 3rd, 2008 at 06:07PM

Hey all! Alexandra here. This is the first installment of weekly (hopefully weekly) entries by me. My first subject: films. I know everyone gets in a rut, so here is a list of steampunk-themed, or inspired, films.

Disney (with IMDB links):

Treasure Planet

Atlantis

Other (with IMDB links):

The Golden Compass Actually, read the books if you have the time, I read them when I was younger and they first came out, and they were AMAZING!!!

Stardust

Wild Wild West

The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen

Sleepy Hollow Just Ichabod Crane's gadgets...the blood tree is fascinatingly disgusting, too!

The Time Machine

"The Time Machine" was definitely a movie I didn't like, but I loved almost everything about the aesthetics. The actual time machine, the lab, the tribal society cliff side village and the nature Visual effects were all pretty amazing.

Actually, I never saw it...I heard it was crappy. But, I'm just kind of a costume freak and research film stills just for the costumes. I can get lost for hours doing that >.> And I found this one. If you want to watch a really crappy fantasy film for a laugh, rent Merlin's Apprentice.
