| Αφροδίτη της Μήλου προτομή - A… |
There were leaflet guides for the museum typed in all possible known languages-english,french,german,italian,spanish,portuguese-even japanese and chinese..!!! But not in Greek.! (I speak fluently english and german and I could read a tour guide in these languages)! But,I got angry and asked for the person responsible for the typed tour guides of the museum. It was a kind french gentleman fairly speaking english.! I approached him and told him politely: 'Dear sir,with more than 50% of the museum exhibition items to be of Greek origin or somehow closely related to Greek culture and the main outstanding exhibition item to be an ancient Greek statue:Αphrodite of Melos,you should have the kindness not to mention the obligation to have a tour guide leaflet of the museum available in the GREEK LANGUAGE..!! After all, 5.000 words of your everyday vocabulary are Greek words..!! He was taken aback and didn't say a word.!
I turned my head and looked at the statue of Aphrodite of Melos surrounded by bewitched tourists.! I thought I saw her breaking a consenting bitter smile..!! The most beautiful Greek goddess would certainly have the same opinion..!!!!
P.S. We continued our tour in the Louvre Museum with no typed leaflet guide.! After all it was ALL GREEK TO US...!!!
