I suppose it's inevitable that as I progress in ballet class, less amusing things happen. I tend not to fall over now. I can more easily follow the moves and sometimes even remember them. The criticism that comes my way from the teacher is specific and detailed - my uneven left shoulder bears the brunt of it.

This morning in class I was at the barre having just successfully finished an exercise in battement tendu. I relevéd with arm en avant and completed a demi dé tourné to face the opposite direction ready to mirror the exercise. With right hand on the barre, feet in fifth, buttocks tightly clenched for strength, I moved my left arm from bras bras to à la seconde as the music started. The teacher behind called out to me.

"Nice Bottom"

Not a little surprised, I went wrong immediately and never recovered.
