There was a full house at our first experienced ballet class of the new term.

As we lined up at the barre and scattered to the far wall ready for our warming up plies and tendus, the beginner's ballet teacher poked her head around the door.

"You're crowded here and I've only one in my class so who will join us?"

One of the more timid amongst us stepped towards the door.

"C'mon, who else? I'll take one more - anyone."

After an awkward silence I stepped forward.

"Not you."
