Getting my new D300 next week and new lenses! I had shot over 25,000 photos with my old D200 but, the D300 allows such high ISO settings with minimal noise. Now the rumors are for the D700 to be announced within a week or so. This should be a D300 body with a full frame sensor. Sort of like the love child of the D300 and D3. Supposedly this will run between $2500-$3500. If it goes for $2500 that would be sweet. It won't be available until late fall this year. I don't need it now. The D300 will be my camera now and knowing me, I'll get the D700 next year and keep the D300 as a second (or third) body. So many cameras, so little time (and money).
Adding to my collection of: 17-55 f/2.8, 70-200 VR f/2.8, Sigma 10-20, and the Nikon 50 f/1.8
I am going to get:
Nikon 80-400 VR
Nikon 85 f/1.4
Nikon 18-200 VR
I've been lusting after the 85mm f/1.4 for some time. I went back and forth about the 80-400 VR but, in the end, it's a must have if you want to take wildlife shots. The 18-200VR seems a reasonable lens to have in my bag although it's not a "pro" lens per se. I'll use it. that's what matters. I'm also getting a D40x for a second body. No doubt now, it's a necessity.
I'm also impressed so much with DxO Optics software that I am getting this too. I love the fact that they correct distortion easily. I tried it and it's a fantastic addition. I use Photoshop CS3 and adore Nik Color Efx Pro along with AlienSkin's Exposure. Just great stuff.
So...stay tuned for a lot of photos.
