Vacation & Inspiration

Wednesday March 5, 2008 at 02:58PM

My parents said they would be going on a vacation in Prague in April en they were smart enough to say that they want me to come with them. At first I refused, but then they said the will pay the ticket and the hotel. Only thing I would have to pay is food any other thing I would do over there.

My answer: hmm... ok

And i plan to make a LOT of pictures, and then some.

Only i have a small (read: HUGE!!!!) problem. I have a depression, and my inspiration is pretty much gone, and I haven’t been able as many beautiful things as I used to. And apparently Prague is one of the most beautiful city's in Europe, at least so I’ve red on the interweb of so many places I've lost count, and we all know anything that is on the interweb is all true

So, I'm kind of hopping I find some inspiration and stuff there (maybe in a discount shop).

But now i wanted to know if someone had been to Prague and give me tips on where i absolutely and must go to (and take pictures of course).

I would be so grateful if someone could give me some tips!!!

As you already know I haven't been to Prague myself...but at least I'd like to! ;) Since I can't give you any useful tips directly related to Prague, maybe you should join the Prague group and link your post into a discussion within the group.

Verder ga ik een beetje reclame maken en naar je post linken, misschien helpt dat ook...

In the case of a creative depression, leave the camera at home. Don't touch it, you need to recharge your batteries. This is serious! When you're in a depression you won't live up to your potential, you'll not be satisfied with your photos and you'll not reach your goals because you're predetermined to fail. This will further depress you and suck you into a downward spiral. The solution is simple: Let off for a while. And if you absolutely want to take pictures, use the cheapest disposable camera (which you can buy there as well), but leave all the beloved stuff at home.

Well i dont have a creative depression, i have a "reagulair" depression about feelings and my youth and that kinda stuff. And becose of the many mixed feelings and stuff i have I couldn't really do my normal creative hobby, drawing. That part why I started with photography. Plus it takes my mind off the other problems I have and it's quite relaxing for me.
I know my pictures wont come out as great as I want, thats a fact I already taken to hart and don't mind any more.
And becose I have a lot of things now that should help me get better, i want to use this once-in a long time opportunity to help that by being in a surrounding thats said to be one of the most beautiful city's in Europe and to help to find my creativity a little. I know i can do that anywhere, But the city I live in I plain but ugly, and new completely different city helps better.
But thank you for you're advice:)

After having been to Berlin last weekend, I really definitely and honestly suggest you to buy the lonely planet for Prague, read the whole thing through and make a list with the things that interest you most. That list really helps to see a great deal of what you want to see. Our list for Berlin e.g. was quite long, but we saw about 3/4 of the places on it! :)

I'd also like to recommend to you the freetour for Prague. Unfortunately I just had to read (www.newberlintours.com/nbt/content/view/21/49/lang,en) that there is no free tour for Prague. So try to find another tour guided by someone funny. That keeps things interesting and spots to shoot at with your Canon will offer themselves while walking through...
