Marisa Meyer, the new CEO of flickr.com has ignorantly stated that there are no professional photographers now, because everyone takes pictures.

Dear Marisa,

The professionals are the ones who:

Care about the client and calm them when they have a burst water pipe the day before a shoot or their model calls off with mumps, chickenpox or a relationship meltdown.

Take the time to understand what the web designer is going to do with the photographs.

Work with the client to identify locations that fit in with their marketing message.

Take photographs, not pics or 'captures'.

Have learned and honed their craft through college, university or with a professional mentor.

Don't dismiss CEOs as unprofessional because there are so many of them these days.

Regards

Robert
