Well, no not really. We had our pay rise today and I’m better off to the tune of £10 a month. Don’t get me wrong, it’s better than nothing, however it’s a bit of a slap in the face considering the average pay rise that our bosses are getting is more than many of us could hope to earn in a year. If they showed some solidarity and had the same percentage rise as us, they’d still be in line for a whopping big pay rise but to limit us, stating there’s no money, whilst receiving an average (and some are getting more!) rise of 8% is not playing fair. We have more strikes here and I genuinely don’t know what to do. On the one hand I agree that the pay is unfair, however I don’t think a strike achieves anything except that we lose a day’s pay and who can afford that?

In other news, I wrote to the company that I bought my shoes from, stating my dissatisfaction that they’ve split so soon, and they’ve sent me a prepaid label and asked me to return them. I’ve photocopied my receipts, and paid for recorded delivery, and returned them. I’m hopeful of getting an exchange. In the meantime though, I’ve had to buy another pair of footwear to tide me over. I’ve also sent the receipt for the new shoes to the shoe company, so that they can see that I’m out of pocket. It could take 21 days for a response which is a long time.

My son shocked me recently by asking if I’d allow him to go to a Birthday party. It was a shock, because since we’ve lived here, he’s only been to one other party. He’s very quiet and shy, so this is a definite improvement. Of course I said no… Just kidding! It’ll involve a little driving and a lost evening, but hey, what are kids for :)

I went out for a meal recently with a group of visually impaired people. There’s nothing wrong with their voices! After about an hour, sitting with 20 other people all talking I’d had enough. Just thinking about it gives me a headache. The meal was nice although the venue was freezing and a few people didn’t even take their coats off. Afterwards, I had the worst stomach upset that I’ve ever had. They’re all going out again in 2 weeks’ time, I won’t be joining them. I can’t afford it, I don’t like crowds, and I’m not keen on the pub that they’re going to. They choose the strangest pubs…

Off to see my GP soon, my scalp is itching like mad some days and I think it’s where severed nerves are growing back but I want a check-up anyway. I have 2 more patches of skin I want tested and a mole that I don’t like the look of. Sighs…

It’ll soon be Friday, have a great weekend.
