Once a guitarist on the road for Tina Charles, Bruce Woolley co-wrote "Video Killed the Radio Star" (Trevor Horne, Geoffrey Downes, Woolley) and recorded it as "Woolley and the Camera Club" on the 1979 album "English Garden" featuring Thomas Dolby on keyboards.

When it was recorded by Geoffrey and Trevor and The Buggles (closely associated with Bruce) it became the first video aired on MTV and topped the charts in 1981.
